He’s sitting on my chair,
lying on my bed,
eating my food,
drinking my milk.
He’s taking the mickey,
having a laugh,
being very cheeky,
making me wait.
He knows I won’t move him,
won’t pick him up,
put his paws on the floor,
put him out of the door.
He’s a very lucky kitty,
sleeping on my chair,
he should be here..
and I should be there!
I wrote this for the 64 million artists January challenge on Facebook. (I think that’s what it’s called). Each day a different artistic challenge. I’ve only done a few of them, but it’s interesting to dip into.

Sitting by the black cat,
staring into space,
straight and statue like,
that look on his face.
Looking all innocent,
quiet and still.
Never moved a muscle,
while I looked at him.
Then down on the ground
like a flash.
Tiny shards of pottery
fallen with a crash!
Butter wouldn’t melt,
no sign of remorse,
going to be a statue.
Somewhere else?
Of course!
Random photo of flowers.
Just something to brighten your days.
Shining with colour.
Greens and purples.
Orange and mauve.
Blocks of plants.
Textures and petals.
Summer come again.
Soon.
I see a face in the wood
A dragon in the clouds
An eye in the cheese
A mermaid in the water
Fish in smoke
Apples in stone
Bees in milk.
I see so many things,
Patterns in wallpaper
Cats in cakes
Tigers in bubbles
Owls on bark.
Never seen zebras in sugar though.
Up in the rafters something stirs?
Bat’s in my belfry?
What can it be.
Scrawling
And crawling
And scratching around
I look about
to see what can be found?
Suddenly flowing
Drops of red blood,
Oh my dear lord
That can’t be good?
Now our of the shadows
Comes a caped figure.
Standing in front of me?
It is Count Dracula!
Welcome to the dawn of a new decade.
Let’s try and be optimistic,
do something to improve the world
instead of destroying it.
Use less plastic stuff,
eat more organic food.
Drink clean water at last,
instead of tainted.
Free workers from slavery,
pay a decent wage.
Let the sky glow at dawn and dusk
not from forest fires.
House the homeless in decent shelters
along with refugees…
Care for one another
and the life of the world.
Reduce energy usage,
and combat Global warming.
Then we might survive,
to the Next Decade.
Fingers crossed.

Rest and relax
Cat stares into space
Making a warm place
On the bookcase.
Warm brown liquid,
from Coffee bean
roasted and ground.
Squashed into powder,
granulated and freeze dried,
or steaped in hot water
in a cafetiere
and poured
into a tiny cup or mug.
Releasing its caffeine,
Or on my case?
Not.
Decaff.
Bored.
Not allowed.
Blogging seems to be all sorts of things. I follow poetry, science, history, art and all sorts of other subjects. I post pretty much anything I’m interested in. I try and write things that are interesting, sometimes short stories or poems, other times about my art.
I started out thinking it would purely be about painting and drawing. But I suddenly realised that I wanted to include more than that. My writing and grammar skills are not honed. I used to write essays in English or History classes, but that was on the subjects on the syllabus. When I got to Art school I had to write essays and a thesis, so blogging came slowly. I hope what I write is enjoyable or interesting.
