Merged,
Me and he
Forty years together
Him and me
Us.
Blue and brown eyes
Beard and bare face
White hair and brown
Smile and frown
Friendship, partners
Together.
Thinking of you
And me
Life sentences

Time.
New paintings and regular art updates.

It didn’t rain
It didn’t pour,
Even though we sang.
The flags flew
The banners flapped
In the breeze.
The bubble man
Blew huge bubbles
That the children popped.
And the snail man?
He walked very

Violin, accordion, guitar, also two others playing banjo and harmonica but I couldn’t fit them in.
Black and white drawing using ink fine liner. The Boatband this afternoon at the Beehive pub.

Having fun sketching my cohort on the college course I’m doing. Learning to draw even faster. Most of these are five minute sketches using a graphite stick. I had fun!

Probably my final version of a landscape imagined from a set I made in a box. There are two previous ones. This time the figures are further forward and one couple have been switched round, the Dalek and the Alien Goat are differentiated by colours. The Buddha has become more of a geological outcrop in the landscape and the boat has less detail. Finally it is set at night..

Back in 2018, when crowds were allowed, we went to see the terracotta army travelling exhibition at Liverpool. While I was there I did a series of sketches. This is a favourite. Not the warriors but a sculpted chariot or carriage pulled by four ponies. I think it’s good to draw as well as taking photos. You get a different perspective… Literally!

About 2018, hubby and I visited a steam fair at Chelford near Jodrell Bank in Cheshire.
It wad a lovely day out. Lots of country market stalls selling everything from honey to shoes. Lots of mechanical stuff for farmers and people who like to ‘tinker’.
The photo is of a miniature train that was running alongside the main exhibition ring of the fair. We took a short ride on it.
Tractors and steam engines were being displayed. And around the ring were steam gallopers and traction engines, plus food stalls.
Wouldn’t be allowed now!

I wanted to take a photo of our zoom meeting but not identify who’s in it so I’ve put the photo through a few filters to distort the image. I think it looks a bit like embroidery or a tapestry?

Acrylic on canvas
I keep finding old photos of paintings that I have done over the years. This was called tree spirits and went to a lovely couple who had fallen in love with it. Those that follow my blog know I love pattern and shapes. My favourite shape is the spiral. I don’t know why… But curving round and twisting, leaves shading the faces. I want to do more like this.

When you are in a webinar and you are listening to people talking, why not sketch them? I don’t get much chance of doing portraits of people at the moment and so I take them when I can. Our webinars require students to have their mic and camera switched off, and only switching the mic on if you want to say something. When you are in a group of up to forty students I guess it makes it easier to hear what’s being said and it’s less distracting. I make notes, but I can’t help wanting to draw…
So if you are ever in a zoom meeting with me… Beware I might do a quick sketch of you too!
