An app I don’t use very often, but sometimes I remember it and then hve a play with it. This was just a doodle of a face. There is a metallic and non metallic pen and different sizes of them, plus a dry brush, an everlasting oils brush, and two others. The colours change depending on how metallic you set it. I think I could learn to control it better if I used a stylus instead of my finger to draw.
Playing and twisting lines. Black and white, gold and grey. Plus gold leaf. A bit of collage too. Its a bit of fun, different ideas, not sticking to one style. Using contours and texture to get different ideas across.
One thing I do tend to do is draw profiles or three quarter portraits facing left. I discussed this with other artists a while ago. It may be that right handed artists draw left facing profiles and vice versa? Is it something that’s ever been tested?
I am doing a college course in illustration and as far as I’m aware we are supposed to be doing working drawings, just drafts, so I’ve done a lot of doodles and drawings, trying ideas and layouts. But when I looked at what my fellow students have done everything looks fully worked up. I’m questioning whether I have missed the brief? I can only do what they ask. Quite worried now.

These were on my memories from three years ago so I thought I would share them. Yet again a combination of doodling and filters. Probably drawn with a stylus. Using Sketch, sketcher free and ArtRage oils. I like drawing faces in profile.
I’ve found I usually draw left facing profiles for faces and animals. In this case I’ve switched a couple of them round to see how it changes the image. Is it something to do with if you are left or right handed? I don’t know.
I drew some curves and spirals then started adding doodles, including a couple of birds and a face. I started using a fine line black ink pen, but it was running out so I turned instead to a black calligraphy pen. When I’d finished I decided to add colour. That helped accentuate some of the shapes. I could do more but decided to leave it. I called it phoenix because a bird seemed to ge appearing from the background.
A few recent adventures in digital art. Trying for something a bit different to what I normally do.
Why? Its easy to say “because I can”. I’d rather say ” because its interesting” or “because I’m learning from my mistakes”.
What is the audience? Well, people viewing my page, also in this case my Facebook Art page. Maybe, one day, a wider audience.
Used ArtRage Pro app to draw these and my tablet and stylus.
I’m playing with digital sketches to decide whether to paint or draw a card design. After the first set done in a sketching app, I did the last one as an artrage oil sketch – over drawing a picture of a firework exploding that I did last week. I’m happier with that than the others.
I’m only doing these because I’ve got a cold. I was due to go out and go to an art group but I woke up feeling snotty this morning. But you can’t keep me away from drawing or painting for long. I’ve got a large peice of foam board in the car to paint on for something else this week….. But that’s another story.

I think this looks more refined and handsome.
Here I am again
Doodling little squares,
Trying to catch life in a box.
Here I sit with pen in hand,
Drawing the world
Squeezing reality into 2 dimensions.
Time pauses while I sketch,
Only to leap forward an hour
When… I. … look.. .. Up..
Here is life compressed,
Its size shrunk like a postage stamp
With the world drawn on it…..
Here is here at Etruria, here I sketch.
