Faces

Each of these drawings were done slightly differently. The first and third in ArtRage app and the middle one used a photo which was drawn on with Sketcher free app.

Faces are interesting to draw, the first two are from life, the third is imagined. I’ve tried using free flowing pens and different textures backgrounds. Colours are tending towards the blue/green end of the spectrum.

I also thought about which side light falls on a face. I usually draw with light coming from the top right if I’m imagining an image, or from whichever direction it comes from if it’s from life.

More to follow as I create them.

ArtRage

Untitled_001

For years I’ve used an app called ArtRage oils which is free, but when I got this new tablet I decided to go mad and get the full ArtRage app. I’m having a lot of fun with it, new tools to use, a colour picker, and various other things to do. Now I just need to learn it a bit more so I can try and do  realistic art, and I have a stylus….that’s really much better than finger painting.

Colours

IMG_20190625_000639_446

An explosion of colour makes me feel joyous, excited, satisfied, sainted with brilliance. I would love to turn this into a tee shirt, a throw for a sofa or a bed. It’s a bit bright for a painting on a wall.

This was a quick drawing in ArtRage oils, then I used a rainbow flood fill in the gaps and then a smudge tool. Finally I used the layout app to duplicate and rotate the drawing.

I know they are only simple tools but you can create some interesting things with them.

Based on a tile

This is a digital drawing based on an old tile. I won’t bore you with the app I used it’s on my tablet and I haven’t been able to use it for a while as it needs fixing.

I drew it in 2016 and I don’t think I’ve shared it here before. It just popped up on my Facebook memories, and why not share it? It will just disappear into the aether again if I don’t.

I did try and create a glossy shine on it, but the chin is too big!

Trout pout

Untitled46_002

Eyes, looking up from below

Bubbles, trickling from the waters depths,

A fishes mouth and gill’s

Scales with a metallic sheen

Jenny lurks below.

Hidden in the weeds

Pike like teeth behind those lips

Clawed hands stir the water

Webbed between fingers and toes.

Bubbles reflected in her eyes.

She sees the feet of a child,

Dabbling on the waters edge,

One grab and down it goes.

Jenny Greenteeth has struck again.

Whirlpool galaxy drawing

IMG_20190421_110745_226

This took a few hours to draw on the old sketchfu website. I do love astronomy. This is not accurate, it couldn’t be with the limited tools that were on the website but it was fun to try and get a reasonable representation of it. Space is so infinitely beautiful. It makes me realise how tiny I am, how small our planet and solar system are in relationship to the mass of stars in a galaxy and the smallness of galaxies in relation to the infinity of the universe.

How important we think we are, we have so much on this world that we are using up. We are big in comparison  with insects and smaller still bacteria. Then even smaller viruses. The smallest things, molecules, Atoms  and sub atomic particles.

Apparently we are halfway on the scale of size in the universe. Halfway between the infinitely massive and the incredibly tiny. Perhaps in realising this we can see we are not very important after all. I think we should take more care to preserve our tiny/huge planet so that humankind can continue to survive and flourish.

Cat yoga

IMG_20190329_235144_529

I sometimes think yoga should be a cat thing, they seem to be able to move so flexibly, instead of the downward dog you would have the crouching cat. Or the rear leg stretch.

I don’t know about a cat litter squat though!

But that thing when they fall and flip over so they land on all four feet is amazing!

When they run at fast speeds around the room they can leap and turn like lightening. I would take a photo but they move to fast, paws up, back bent into incredible curves.

Jumping and flipping over, landing on their backs with a fierce growl or a gentle purr…..

Owl

FB_IMG_1552484640421

Being owlish I look carefully at things,

I see them from my flying wings.

I hoot with laughter when I hear a joke.

I spy mice and voles at a stroke,

Will my owlish brain outwit you?

Never know what hit you?

I swoop down so soft and quiet

To consume my rodent diet….

My talons and beak are sharp

Winging down over hill and park.

A barn to rest in is all I ask.

A nest to build is my task.

My eggs and chicks they grow fast

Gobble up food, a tasty repast.

Then once they are grown the fledge

And out to the world they emerge.

So this old owl will towoo some more.

To hear the twit of my Amore.
