Dying hedge

Up until two years ago the hedge my garden hedge was fine and healthy but then unknown to us we got a leaking pipe in the garden. While the trees in the hedge prospered the hedge didn’t. The plants got straggly and untidy, a friend cut part of it back but it didn’t regenerate. Then last year a builder dumped a load of rubble and rubbish in the alley running alongside the garden. Eventually after about six months the council bought a digger in to remove it, but the cut the hedge in half all the way along the path. Effectively removing all the green growth that overhung the pathway. We are trying to add roses and hedgerow plants like hawthorn, but it still looks like a gap toothed smile! You can see into the garden from outside. We also have hundreds of tree seedlings germinating probably because of light getting into the garden.

I went out for the first time in months today. I feel very unsteady and the garden paths are uneven, but I need to try and make an effort despite shaking like a jelly!

Amazon rainforest destruction.

The beef industry, and the surging demand for meat is causing the amazon rainforest to be cut down. Hundreds of ranches have been illegally created on land which was once virgin forest. The beef is then shipped to countries including the UK and being sold in our supermarkets as corned beef.

A lot of this is happening in Brazil. The president their has denied satellite images of the deforestation is real. Meanwhile the amazon burns. Is it time for Brazil to bring in laws to restrict the destruction? Or will global warming continue because of it.

Bang

Could it be a cosmic collision that eradicates humanity? Like the dinosaurs millions of years ago. But we seem so good at surviving as a species I doubt we could all be killed off. I’m in a performance soon about how humans have destroyed other species and the environmental destruction we are responsible for.

I added scratches and grunge to this photo in Photodirector, then changed it from colour with a black and white filter on Instagram. I thought of adding text to this. Maybe it would work but it might be a bit twee.

“We just want the shelling to stop….”

Vladimir Putin seems to enjoy flattening countries. He helped Bashir Assad destroy Allepo in Syria. He attacked Georgia and Crimea and now he continues to mercilessly attack cities and towns in Ukraine. He says his troops are withdrawing but the shells keep raining down on innocent people, children, babies.

If any Russians read this please spread the truth. Do not listen to state propaganda. I’m just a person hoping that this can stop and peace and compassion can happen.

Bottle oven abstract

I’m writing this because I’m trying to avoid watching the news about Ukraine again. People are dying. Food and water is running short for Ukrainian people. Russians attacking them are not ‘saving’ them. I just want to cry. I will say it, I think Vladimir Putin is evil, or stupid. Or both. Prosecuting a war because he feels bothered by Ukraine wanting to join Nato, when they didn’t have an application in? Why murder people. Why be so appallingly evil. Stop the WAR. I’m just a little person in the UK, I’m unimportant, but I’m disgusted by what is happening.

Poppy

A poppy painting I did a while ago.

This recent warm sunshine is bringing all the poppies out into flower. We walked into town, and where the pathways have not been sprayed with weed killer, all sorts of plants, including oriental poppies, are springing up. Mother nature is taking over.

But… In places where people have been allowed to meet up, the beaches, and parks, the main growth is in litter. People do not take their rubbish home with them. Why are humans such a filthy, messy, species. I thought we were giving the earth breathing space. But people’s ethos seems to be having what they want, and ignoring the damage they create.

I don’t think humans deserve this wonderful world. Really.
