A quick sketch for a prompt “flutter” for a group I’m in called bandofsketchers. A butterfly drawn in Artrage app on my phone. It’s a bit scribbly, but it is meant to be a sketch…

Playing with collage and filters.
It started out as a photo taken through my bedroom window, as I shake I got interesting trails of light. Then by putting the photo through the same filter 3 times I got this laminated effect.
I like the simple colours, black, white and blue. I think the pattern I created looks like a butterfly. I also think it looks a bit like an xray..

Happy St Patrick’s day, I couldn’t quite draw a Shamrock so I did a green butterfly instead.
I live in England so we don’t strongly celebrate St Patrick’s day as much as the Irish, but it is a happy day. I was meant to go out to a coffee morning to celebrate but I woke up with a runny nose and a sore throat so I decided not to share that. Anyway I hope you all have a lovely day. Looking forward to Spring and all the fresh greens to come. X

Artrage oils drawing from 7 years ago. Popped up on my Facebook memories. I love the way you could use metallic brushes to create this. It’s sort of mid way between a butterfly and a pigeon. It’s a good memory.

A butterfly sunbathes on top of the fence. I couldn’t get a decent photo because it was too far away. It looks more like a speckled leaf. The edge looks like a wrinkled and twisted old dry oak leaf. There are plenty of flowers lower down on the fence for it to collect nectar as it sips from them.
I imagine it was trying to warm up as we have had lots of cold and damp days recently.
Talking about insects there was a Huge bumblebee in the bathroom yesterday. I tried to get it out, I couldn’t reach up to the window so opened the bathroom door and in the end opened the back door as well and it just flew out into the sunshine. It was good to see two different pollenating insects in the garden on the same day.

Digitally manipulated photo of vaccum packed crochet blanket, added symmetry with the incollage app and then drew over it with the Sketchbook app. I suppose butterflies are quite symmetrical. It’s an interesting effect I think. I’m not sure whether to do anything else to it. I’ll see later.

I just drew this… I saw a red admiral butterfly outside and wanted to take a photo of it, but it flew off. I decided to draw something against a dark background to make it stand out more. This was drawn in the Artrage app I use, it gives nice metallic effects, hence the abstract look of this butterfly.

Red admiral? Settled on a poppy flower. Internet image, couldn’t find the author. Hope it was OK to base my drawing on it. Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was Settled. Felt pens again. I loved getting the bright reds and greens, a really jazzy contrast of complimentary colours.

Butterfly drawing. Done in an app called sketch. There is a symmetry section in the tools and rge main pen I used seems to make sparks like a firework sparkler. I could see something like this on a circular canvas, maybe as a statement piece in an apartment.

We love you
When we see you
In the summer
Riding the breeze
On the flowers
Flitting quickly
In the sun
