Head up, he sees me. Murrup, purr, miaow he says in greeting. Coming in for a bit of food and a drink. Sometimes he sits next to me and reaches his paws out. Just touching my hand on the arm of the chair. He’s saying hello, I’m here. Sometimes he curls up between us and goes to sleep. Then another cat comes in, looks up lovingly. This one jumps up on my knee and starts kneading and poddling with sharp claws. He settles on my leg next to the big cat, he’s medium sized and slightly older than the first. Finally she comes in, claws up into my leg, stretching and yawning, a little nervous around my hubby, dodging his hand but then head butting mine. Three cats, love them all.
I’m going to do some cards using this linocut for a craft fair I’m thinking of doing. I wonder if this is to quirky and should I try different colours. Perhaps gold or bronze instead. If I also get envelopes it might make an interesting card. I hoe cat lovers will like them.
Two front paws kneading my leg ‘poddling’ making little holes in my skin. Like I’m a mother cat and he’s comforting himself and wanting to relax. It’s so sweet that he does this. He does this every night before he goes to sleep on my lap. That’s when he settles down with his eyes closed and starts purring even more. I feel loved. I know cats can be pests sometimes, but this one is soft and friendly.
The cats on my lap. Firmly attached. I can’t move without pushing him off. My leg is going numb! He doesn’t normally stay this long, but I think he’s keeping warm. It’s quite overcast and cool for a May evening.
As soon as I wrote this my hubby walked past, knocked my foot and the cat jumped off my lap and ran upstairs! Just proves nothing stays the same, now I’m missing the cat, and my warm leg is cold!
He got a bit of a scratch on his nose from somewhere. I’ve wiped it with some washing up liquid and salt water. He’s a big cat but gentle. He doesn’t fight much, just stays still and sometimes gets scratched. The look in his eyes is very loving. I think he’s a really sweet cat, but slightly bonkers! He purrs loudly at my other two cats and they all get on together. X
