Turn guns into ploughshares.

What would you change about modern society?

And why not. There are too many weapons  in the world. Guns and missiles. Bombs and tanks. It’s about time we reconsidered what on earth we are doing to this planet of ours with so many wars and gangs and terrorists. Take the guns away, it’s harder to hurt people. I wish aliens would turn up and turn weapons into dust or soil. Just stop the killing, stop the greed, stop the misery. Use our resources to improve lives not destroy them. Imagine a world of peace if you can.

Ten years?

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In ten years, I will be riding in a sky car over a largely flooded coastline. Cars will all be electric. I will have sold every single painting and be a few thousand pounds richer. My house (on a hill) will be above the waterline.

Seriously, I don’t have any plans that far ahead in time. I hope to still be clinging on to life for a little longer, I want to see Halleys comet come back in around 2060?

Ten years from now

I will be older

I will be poorer

I won’t be free

Of gas bills

Aliens arrived

In 2029

And fell in love

With chickens

Who mutated

Into dinosaurs

Using ancient DNA

In a mad max type world

I will be

Glad if I’m free…

Cats

Symmetry with cats

Alien plants?

Symmetry makes interesting patterns. I took a few photos of my kitchen window ledge a few days ago and then tried using a vertical mirroring to create something different and unusual. Something you wouldn’t see unless it was in a reflection. I always think it’s worth doing this because it can look really alien. This photo has a large cat doorstop in it at the back, a Spanish pot with a tile design pattern and a large, dark pink cactus. But I can see a face, with pink hair and a moustache at the front with dark eyes and nose? The cats could be like conjoined twins, like a Greek mythological monster. And the cactus leaves in the middle seem to show a green face with an open mouth. Why not try this yourself?

Monsters?

I look up and see two monsters looming over me. They are staring at each other. Air swirls round them. Crystallising ice makes frost sheets over everything. ALIENS!

Created this photo from four mirrored images of sky, cloud, bushes and houses. Then added texture in Photodirector. The images look like huge baby chicks but with added claws waiting to grab you. Ready to pounce and fight with each other. I was interested in the colours of the sky. It gives a feeling that the air is chilled to a minus number.

Alien plant?

Not a Triffid, more mobile and intelligent. The plants are spreading. Faster than a bird in flight. Trapping creatures and absorbing them. Think intelligent pitcher plant. The larger they grow the bigger their prey. Human victims have been caught out in the open, trapped in cars, trains and buses. Now the plants are surrounding our homes. Green walls with sinister intentions.

Against it? Nothing at the moment. Television and satellite signals have been cut. All countries are separate. Where the climate is warming the aliens grow faster. Only in the far north and south are possibilities of a fight back. Who will survive?

Book Review ‘They walked like men’ Clifford D Simak

I’ve just finished an old book from 1962 by Clifford D Simak. It’s called ‘They Walk Like Men’.

A newspaper reporter is caught up in a mystery when he comes home after a night of too many drinks. Something is happening and he is pulled into a weird situation where aliens create substitute human beings. They are trying to take over the world, but it’s less great big monsters and more subtlety mixed with a type of film noirish storytelling.

Each time you think you are getting somewhere the plot twists. It could just be a shaggy dog story? But it’s deadly and serious…..

If you like old sci-fi (originally published by doubleday in 1962) you might like this. My edition is second hand. It’s a good read. X
