It was about 11.40pm tonight in the UK. I was looking through my kitchen window looking west. I was ringing my sister to tell her the Perseid Meteor shower was due tonight, when I saw what I can only describe as a fireball flash by heading north west. Two seconds later, my sister who lives eighty miles away saw it too! It flew over her right shoulder and dissappeared. So it must have been travelling about 40 miles a second. Since then I’ve seen about four meteors (shooting stars). It’s clouded over now. But there should be about 150 an hour after local midnight! X
Evening stroll

This evening we had a stroll round Keele Woods. Situated being Keele Hall, part of Keele University in Staffordshire. The paths are rough in places and meander down by three old fishing pools. I’m not sure about who is allowed to fish if at all. It was getting dark as we walked back up the hill to the hall. Nice walk.
Monkey forest

This morning we went out in the sunshine and visited Trentham Monkey Forest. Three troops of Barbara Macaques spread through a forest landscape. They have the run of about 60 acres and the park is helping save them and repopulating them into the wild.
Trentham Monkey Forest is just south of Trentham Gardens on the A34, near the city of Stoke-on-Trent. Staffordshire.
Abstract two

#band of sketchers today, again. This time with colour. Van Gogh meets Picasso (ish).
Abstract

Abstract cat for today’s #bandofsketchers prompt, but I might colour this doodle in. I liked the idea of doodling a familiar thing with added pattern.
Tonight at Knypersley Reservoir

Six and a half miles from here, in the countryside is Knypersley Reservoir. It supplies the local canals with water (apparently Staffordshire has the greatest mileage of canals of all the counties of Britain).
The walk round the Reservoir was up and down hill. We walked up past a tower in the fading daylight, then on up a rough path to a waterfall, more of a small weir. Back along it and out of the shadows of the trees, then along the footpath and out onto the road that crosses the Reservoir and back up to the car park.
We walked for about two miles, up and down. Good exercise, although I was a little nervous of the uneven surfaces.
Happy cat

My cat is happy sitting in the garden in the sun. He was balanced on the fence but when he saw me he came over. I actually sat in the garden for about half an hour today. I tried to ignore the car alarm that repeatedly went off, and the traffic roaring up the hill. Its like a race track. I think drivers are trying to blow their exhausts off. Its crazy.
But I sat there, watching the clouds change and dissolve, blue and white, and the cat, happy, content, and me with him.
Saturn

Space, hard to draw stars, so I drew Saturn instead. Then I filtered it through photodirector. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt.
Black fine line ink pen.
Animal with a ‘G’

A question on an art page asking what they should make in needle felting. They are doing a series of animals in alphabetical order.
I can think of a few.
Goat, gazelle, geese, gecko, gnat, goldfish and giraffe.
What unusual animals can you think of? I like thinking of things like this, good for the memory. It has to be things that you think of, not what you ‘Google’, 😂
Two pens

Holding two pens
I draw a face.
Hard to control,
The pens wobble
Tighter grip now
Try again…
The face emerges
The offset pens
Give it a blurred look.
An ancient roman
Apparently appears.
