Out in the sunshine
Flowers surround him
Lion hearted kitty
So full of life
But now in shadow.
Cats should be infinite
Beings of magic
Limitless
But as they say

My friend Esther Chiltons weekly limerick prompt this week was to use the word SPELL somewhere in the five line rhyme. I was rather pleased with what I came up with so here it is…
The witch of the wood cast a spell
But no one could easily tell
For she’d been mistaken
Used the wrong incantation
And turned her broom into a well!
My Cat won’t perform
He doesn’t do tricks
He’s not cute or cuddly
Won’t chase after sticks
But he is loving
Likes to purr
Sleeps most of the day
With nice soft fur.
He twirled around
Danced into a ball
Finding a snug corner
On the chair.
Spinning and twisting
Slipping into sleep
Nose under tail.
Comfy, warm, sweet.
Cuddly cat
Sits on my knee
Purring and happy
For all to see
He is like a loaf
Paws tucked under
Eyes closed tight
And no wonder
Been out all day
Playing and running
Rolling in the grass
His fur coat sunning
Trying to rhyme
His story together
Is really hard
Whatever the weather!
Send us mares tails that precede rain.
Send clouds full of water
England’s Green is fading
Brown fields abound
River levels dropping
Paddle your canoes no more
Canal boats stuck in place
High and dry on mud!
Give us a cup or two of rain
To water our parched countryside
Let the land drink
Again.
