Silly cat

She’s only little but she lives to run and play. Half an hour ago there was thundering paw noises from upstairs then a loud thud and she ran downstairs like she was being chased. I wondered what had happened. I think she was playing, but she had knocked a glass globe off the windowledge. Nothing was broken, but it had clanged off the radiator and thudded onto the floor. It has now been moved somewhere safer! She’s OK, just as cute as ever.

A few sketches

Learning to resize images to save file space. These are three sketches I’ve done over the last couple of days. The chimney at the Beehive pub, a dinner plate and an ornament.

I like drawing in black and white and using cross hatching to shade the images. I’m drawing every day and I don’t want to stop.

Is that a fish?

A photo of a glass ornament of a cat with a gold fish modeled inside it. I grow lots of plants on our windowledges and also collect bottles so it’s a bit messy I know. The plant is a fern and now it’s getting cooler it’s dropped some of its leaves. I need to clean it up but it’s really huge and I don’t want to damage it. I also like the textures on the clear glass and blue glass bottles. I might paint a still life of it. I like the way the light is illuminating all the glass and the way the cats head is acting like a lens.

Day 30 ‘ornament’

_20200518_161809

I decided to do a more colour drawing for #uskstoke challenge today. I have lots of ornaments, mostly covered in dust I’m afraid.

Today is day 30 out of 38, so it’s just over a week till it finishes. A few people have kept going through the whole series and others have dipped in and out.

See you with more tomorrow…. X

Lost cat

DSC_0680.JPG

Cat hidden in dusty shadow. Lost to the World.

You were smart and neat once, now slightly chipped and nicked.

No longer on display, but hidden in a corner .

Spotted paint is scuffed, dots are faded,

But you can’t leave, you are an old friend .

Will you ever see the light of day, no sign of your return to favour.

Fold yourself into the corner, stay stray until you are called back. Home.
