Five?

What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

Are these everyday things? They are to me…

Art Groups I go to regularly. Being creative keeps my mind calm. When I’m painting or drawing I can put other feelings behind me. An art education improves creativity.

Having clean water to drink and use for washing. I realise many places don’t have the luxury of clean water. Even here there is a problem with some water companies, but at least it is clean and  delivered by pipes to almost every dwelling.

Media, again the luxury aspect. TV, radio, Internet. We mainly have all these in the UK although some are more hit and miss in more rural areas where mountains and hills can block transmissions. We possibly take it for granted.

Our health service. Free at the point of use. Yes it is overworked and underfunded. But you don’t have to pay unless you go private and no one goes bankrupt paying exorbitant fees. I hope it survives all the problems going on in the country.

Finally Education. We are lucky that most pupils stay on till senior school and beyond to college and degree level. The pandemic had a detrimental effect on attendance and some children are being home schooled. I think that’s a mistake but as long as they get a good widespread education then hopefully they will be OK.

So this post is a bit random but all these things mean a lot to me. Art is my main one though.

Esther Chiltons weekly prompt

Beauty

Esther asked us to write about beauty this week. I struggled to explain what I think of the word. I wrote :

Beauty can be on the inside, you don’t have to look amazing to be alive and well thought of. If people could read your thoughts? How would they interpret them. Odd or plain, ugly or old? It’s your brain and thought processes are important. Consider the world around you and how people are perceived. Media makes things worse.

But then I thought am I talking about personal, intellectual beauty? In the case of the word should I just look at beauty as form? Like a lovely rose? As how I feel about a wonderful day or a landscape? There are so many connotations to the word.

Full memory again

My phone is full of photos and my WordPress account is too. I want to add new images but my blog tells me my mediaย  file is full. What can I do? I have to delete previous photos from my previous posts.

So if you read one of my blogs and it doesn’t have a photo to illustrate it, that’s the reason why. I could delete the actual blogs but I don’t know how to do it?

My memory (phone)

Why does my phone switch itself off when I try and take a photo? I think I might have too many photos in my phone memory and I don’t optimise them enough. When I do try and do that the picture sizes are reduced but the originals stay on the phone. So I have to go through them all to remove duplicates. This also means that all the photos are stacked under one date (today’s), but I have to do it. I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to do it now. It also means that the photo sizes here will be reduced.

My dilemma is that a lot of pictures here are large and they are taking up a lot of space, so I sometimes have to take off photos from my blogs to give me a bit more room to add new pictures here. So if you find a blog of mine here without a picture? Well that’s the outcome of not being able to afford a better package on WordPress. X

Got to 100%!

I post my own art and photos here, but they do take up a lot of space on my WordPress account. Today I tried loading a photo only to be told I didn’t have sufficient space. I had got to 100%! I have had to go in and delete some of my photos to get to 99.4%…just enough to squeeze a few more photos in. I shall try posting my pictures from my media. It does mean that some of my posts now have no images to go with them, but I can’t afford a more expensive plan, so there it is.

Dalek

Hubby grabbed the Dalek arm so it could not shoot at me. Well not really. This character from the Sci-fi series ‘Dr Who’ was on display in the foyer of the Potteries Museum and Art gallery so of course I had to take a photo. The TV series has been on and off the BBC over about fifty years! It’s amazing how the show has such longevity, but then it could be because the ‘doctor’ of the title can regenerate and turn into a new person. In the meantime ii hope it doesn’t say ‘Exterminate!’.

Missing photos

I just checked my memory percentage on WordPress media and it was up to 96.4% well into the red! I am always up there recently because I like posting my own art here. It means that something has to happen so I have been deleting a few photos. I’m down to 96%. Please accept my apologies if there isn’t a picture on one of my older posts… I have to reduce them. I’m also possibly going to post smaller images xxx

Exhibiting with Local Artists

I’ve been invited by my friend and fellow artist Eve Travis to join a group of local artists at The Rigger Venue in Newcastle-under-Lyme on the 19th and 20th of June 2021. The idea is to get the art out of galleries and move it into the community. My vision will be images based on the idea of green men and women. Better get some works done.
