Ten things

List 10 things you know to be absolutely certain.

I know that apples fall down off trees.

I know cats are devious creatures!

I know bats don’t always live in belfry.

I know cheese can be put in a curry.

I know time seems to move forwards.

I know there are no Elephants on Mars.

I know Wales is different to whales.

I know that salt does not taste like sugar.

I know I like to watch the sky at night.

I know I don’t know about a lot of things!

I wanted to create a list that wasn’t contentious, that could almost be a poem, that I didn’t have to type out my working out, and I hope people will find humerous.

Who’s coming to dinner?

If you could host a dinner and anyone you invite was sure to come, who would you invite?

I’d like to invite Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Carl Sagan and Richard Feynman.

I don’t know if I would be able to understand any conversation between them. But I have noticed that the three men seemed to have funny senses of humour. The two I know most about were Feynman (one of his books is Surely you’re joking Mr Feynman) and Sagan (who wrote Cosmos and Contact among other books).

All of them were interesting people and I hope they would take pity on my lack of knowledge of Physics and the other sciences. Maybe it would be a difficult meal to host. I would research the food they liked and try and replicate it, but I would have to be careful not to cause them stomach problems!

Anyway it’s never going to happen. Fun imagining the guest list though.

I don’t know?

If humans had taglines, what would yours be?

What a question! Taglines are used as short snappy phrases to sell things through advertising. So is this prompt suggesting we should advertise ourselves?

Mine could be “confused and chaotic”, but would that give people a full picture of my real personality. I guess taglines could be like the “What three words” app. As every three meters square is located on the planet, it means that a house can have multiple words to define it’s location. It’s up to the user to choose which ones they want to use.

My three words could be:

HARP APPLE DEVELOPMENT

ALGAR EVENT SUNSHINE

BEVEL CRUTCH DOSES

SCAN FOOT DOMED?

By the time you’ve gone all through them, disliked them, wished they could be changed, you’ve forgotten what you were choosing them for?

So my tagline will be something random

MILDEW SCORCH FERVENT!

Yes

Do you remember life before the internet?

They didn’t exist, then the green light started blinking… The cursor came later, they were glorified typewriters. I don’t know if they came with a mouse?

I wasn’t a member of the computer club. But about five were lined up in the science lab at school. I sometimes saw green text on them.

One day I went to an exhibition about computer art. There was a pc set up and on the screen it said type something, a phrase, can’t remember. But I typed the words… Nothing happened,,, I typed again, and again and again.. Nothing. I typed till the screen was full and the original message had gradually disappeared off the screen!

I wonder what the people running the exhibition thought? It was only a few months later that I found out about the ENTER key!

Spend more time with my cats

What do you wish you could do more every day?

Get up in the morning with my cats

They are running around like bats

I mean silly rushing

Each one pushing

The boundaries of reason

But it’s the spring season

Jumping about then resting

And they’re always questing

To find a nook and cranny

To hide in like a canny

Cat, ready to pounce

Or at least flounce

Off in a huff

Which can be rough

To their friendly mate

Who’s left in a state

Of shock

After a sock

In the face with a paw

When they were calm before

Getting all het up

When they meet up

On the bed

They sort of see red

And chase

Yes that’s the case!

Hi jinks

When a claw sinks

In your nose

But it’s fun I suppose!

Eccentric?

What is one word that describes you?

I decided to use the form of a limerick poem to describe the one word ‘eccentric’ that I have chosen for myself. The painting is of me as a green woman…

I’m rather eccentric, that’s me

I prefer that to ‘mad’ you see

I love paint and mess

With nothing to stress

And my mind is a buzz, like a bee!

I’m starting to

Do you believe in fate/destiny?

Which way do the dice fall for you? Can you control your fate or is it out of your hands? I’ve always thought I have some control, some freedom of thought. I don’t know any more.

Am I fated to end my life cast away on a desert island, or skydiving on a Sunday afternoon? No chance, they are just random thoughts. But I can sometimes see a pathway I don’t like. I will fight against that.

Destiny? A destination that is foretold or preordained? Like a Princess who is destined to become a Queen. Maybe that is what my destiny will be… To be a rich and famous artist? Nah!
