Panto painting

Before covid (bc) I painted a series of pictures of places the cast of the pantomime I was in travelled through to get to Gretna green in Scotland (they had no sense of direction). This was one of the destinations.

This popped up on my Facebook memories. Imagine 8 or 10 people walking along and each painting being moved across the stage behind them. It was fun.

Fifth of November

Annual celebration in the UK.

Looking forward to seeing fireworks on November 5th, bonfire night in the UK. Also known as Guy Fawkes night when he tried to blow up the houses of parliament several centuries ago. Children say the rhyme “remember, remember the fifth of November, gunpowder, treason and plot”. Nothing to do with the American General Election thankfully! And something people actually enjoy X

A film called “Yesterday”

I’m watching a film called Yesterday starring Himesh Patel, Lily James and Ed Sheeran. The premise is that a failing musician has a bike accident when all the power goes off in the world for 12 seconds.  He wakes up in hospital and when he gets out he finds out that none of his friends have heard of the Beatles (a 1960’s and 70’s pop group).

The story continues to tell the tale of his life and integrates Beatles songs into it. I don’t want to say much more, but it’s great to hear those old songs again. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up as I watched the film.

If you want to see something funny and life affirming on a wet Sunday night this is one worth watching.

Internet back on!

Internet fixed so thought I’d post a picture of the back yard. Thanks to my sister for collecting the baskets and hanging them for me. I have filled a few pots for the wall but the understory on the ground is overgrown with perennial geraniums and Welsh poppies. I’m trying to build up a bit of colour. I have a mad variegated hosta and some lilies that hubby planted last year. Memory is a funny thing.

Early Easter drawing

Today I went to a craft group.

It’s something I sometimes go to,  it’s the chance to experiment without doing anything serious. The group has lots of different materials and today it was scraper board. It’s a black coloured layer over the top of holographic metallic board.  You scratch through and add shapes or texture. I found a stencil with patterns punched into it. There were rabbits and daffodils, tulips and egg shapes. I drew an Easter egg and added the stencils inside it. Then added spirals and Happy Easter to it to finish it off.

Morning cat

Snoozing cat having a lie in after a night on the tiles? He snores, he dreams, paws twitching. He greets me with a little purr. I think I have got three familiars (I have two other cats). They all have different traits but they are all very loving.

I don’t name them on here because of online security. I could call them all by pseudonym, but I don’t think it matters. They are big, medium and small!

This is big (used to be ‘outside’ cat), he sometimes pushes the cat flap door loose because he has got quite fat. He has a barrel shaped belly and seems quite content. When we first met him as an abandoned cat he was already an adult, I guess he’s over 13 years old now. Middle aged and happy.

Purse found!

My friend went for a walk today and stopped off at the ice-cream van where I lost my purse last week. And guess what? It was there! I spoke to the van driver over the phone and he was happy to give it my friend (she was with me last week). Even better, the money is still in it! She’s going to drop it off later. For once I feel things might be on the turn with my luck!
