Purrs paws claws

Cat paw on my hand, he likes saying hello. Hello in the morning, when he comes up to me, assumes the “staring” position and waits to be fed! Then sometimes he will reach out with his paw to greet me. My other two don’t do that. One sharpens her claws on my leg, pulling holes in my leggings, the third likes to head butt my hand in greeting. Sweet.

Choir tonight

Tonight’s choir practice was a monthly event, based at Hanley Library in Stoke on Trent. I almost missed it because of my car problems but friends gave me a  lift. It was due to be the last practice but the librarian has got extra funding for an extra 3 months. X

We sing various songs including north American Indian, south African and Maori pieces as well as traditional English songs, sometime we tackle Welsh songs like Canon Lan. We had a cheerful evening, I even tried to play the kazoo. It’s good to socialise and singing is good for mental health and memory.

Hubbys tricycle

I need to move on. I’m not going to ride this and I’m not sure if anyone will buy it. It’s a trike conversion. The back wheels and stays are bolted onto a bike frame so it can be adjusted to different sizes. We refurbished it, adding new wheels in 2022. A friend has stored it for me for over a year but it’s not fair to expect him to keep it.

So with regret I will try and sell it. If anyone here is interested I’m in the North Midlands of the UK. I’m willing to sell for a fair price.

Carol concert

It was singing at the Church carol concert tonight. I felt proud, I think because I hadn’t been rehearsing due to my broken rib, people were surprised. I got a few compliments at church and when I got home a couple who had been up at the concert stopped to say I’d got a lovely voice!

Strangely when I was having a mince pie during the intermission I had a discussion about being agnostic with the local vicar! I don’t know what got into me!

Pattern

Life’s a pattern

Like branches and twigs

Trailing through life

First growing bigger

Like the main trunk and boughs

Then petering to smaller stems.

Life follows this pattern, growing

Then diminishing.

Patterns give me hope

I see connections

An intuition of order

Despite a possible chaos.

Patterns in music

Crystals too,

All sorts of things

Some of them new.

I don’t bother with plain

It’s such a pain

Give me gaudy and complex

And intricate not tame!

Flying saucer?

No, the top of a roof, one version rotated and twisted. If it was really a spacecraft it might be fast in the atmosphere, but it isn’t necessarily needed in space. Why? Because there is no air so no wind resistance. You will move in a straight line unless you use a small reaction control thrusters. That’s what they had to use to direct Apollo 13 when it was drifting off course during it’s disastrous mission . Otherwise the space capsule might not have been able to get back to Earth. Also remember there’s no sound in space so no whooshing noises!
