Using a digital filter can steady down analogue drawings. The splodginess of felt pens can get blurred out and the line work becomes more even. I used photodirector to change this drawing. I used the ‘effects’ AI filters and I think I used filter number five on the landscape choice. Somehow the top of the pumpkin looks like a bat….
I haven’t done anything like this for a while, this was six years ago. I drew this in a free app called ArtRage oils and I really like the graphic feel to it. Varying the pen sizes and textures seemed to work well with dark shades and metallic tints. I must try and do something new. I like trying to create exotic birds.
Today’s prompt was Halloween. I decided to take my idea from the pumpkin that I carved last year. So we have a cute/hellish cat glowing neon yellow sitting on a lawn waiting for any trick or treaters. Will it bite their ankles? Who knows…. Purr
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was Australia. I had this mad idea to draw a giant kangaroo balloon. It has to be tied down to stop it blowing away. Hence the speech bubble ‘I tied my kangaroo balloon down’ it’s a bit silly but it cheered me up!
I keep getting told I should try and get some of my designs printed on tee shirts. I love colour and patterns and I just keep creating them. Some of them are tweaked digitally, some are drawings in sketchbooks, others are digital patterns. I have thousands of drawings. My brain just keeps going on and on and on…..
Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was door. So I drew a hobbit style door to cheer myself up. Felt pen and black ink fine line pen. The door would be solid oak and a neat flower bed would be planted on either side of it. I love the story the Lord of the Rings, I’m not sure about the films, but I have a set of cassette tapes that have the Lord of the Rings radio series that was broadcast by the BBC in about 2000?
Some strange creature or plant. A combination of broccoli and alveoli perhaps? A few added leaves, contours, scales. Zig zaging power lines. Light and shade, using different thickness of pen lines. Giving depth in places. You don’t have to stick to one line, you can vary it. Experience and experiment. Trying to learn.
Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was lens. I like drawing magnifying glasses and trying to get a good feeling of reality from an imagined object. This is my idea of how a lens looks. Felt pen drawing and fine ink liner pen. I used some metallic pens to give it a bit of a sheen.
It’s a cool day, and we don’t have the heating on, but I feel hot. I’m wearing a jumper so that might be the cause, but my guts ache too. I hope I’m not ill. I haven’t eaten anything strange, I made a nice chicken and pasta meal last night and it was thoroughly cooked. Basically lots of vegetables, some tomato pasta sauce, two small chicken breasts (apologies to vegetarians) and some multi coloured pasta. Tonight we are going to have pizza so I guess I’m in an Italian mood?
Other symptoms? I think the lethargy I’m feeling is still from sadness. It’s taking me a while to get over things. Maybe my immune system is a bit low? Or perhaps that’s just me guessing. Meanwhile life goes on. I’ll get a cup of tea and maybe doze for a while. The cat has just come up to say hello…
When you use filters it can create some quirky effects. It’s hard to tell which shape is a chair back or my coat (it was my coat on the back of a chair). Also it’s difficult to know how much shading to use. Will the result be delineated so you can tell where the models arm is? Should I have done less hatching? I think I used the negative space quite well. It’s always worth exploring ideas.
