Seamus two years ago

FB_IMG_1552955985792

What a change two years make. Seamus was quite a timid cat. It took me ages to coax him out to say hello and I think you can still see caution on his face here – a couple of months after he arrived. He’s much more self assured now. He loves playing catch chase with his sister. Instead of sleeping in quiet corners or under cupboards both of them now sleep on a cat tree or on the back of the sofa in the middle of the living room.

They both will only eat one flavour of one type of cat food, but it is supplimented with treats and they know how to stare so you share food off your plate.

Cat stares

It knows what it wants

It hypnotises you

To share your breakfast

Lunch

Tea

Dinner

Supper..

How do they do it?

With love and telepathy… !

Cat sculpture

My cat sculpture that I bought from a local blacksmith has moved since we had the shed put up. You can rest a plant pot on its tail. I love the glass eyes that she put in.

I would love to do a blacksmith workshop and learn how to do some basic twirls and twiddle.

I was so impressed by the skill of my friend. She has also got the ability to translate a 2d sketch that I did to a 3d sculpture.

Got my plate

I’ve just had a plate delivered. It was one I designed at a “have a go” session at the Wedgewood factory in Barlaston, Staffordshire. You had to draw the design on a piece of paper then it’s photographed and printed on a plate and sent out to you. I’m a little disappointed because its a bit paler and duller than I was expecting. Also the cat, Gracie, is not as central on the plate as I was had drawn and was expecting. That may be my fault. The second image is where I have upped the contrast, and actually looks closer to the original. And the photo of the back tells you when I drew it.

If you decide to do something like this beware using felt pens and pencils that are a bit worn down or dried out. This will effect the outcome. On the whole I enjoyed the experience and its nice to have something of your own to bring back. Its a souvenir of a good day out.

What’s out there

DSC_1813

What is it?

Box thing with round things, moving

Not my human, moving

Green things waving on long thin things

Wet stuff, falling,

White wet stuff, falling

Coloured things, small, smell nice

Thing with wings, flew past, fast.

Thing with Four legs on string, barking.

Something like me, black and white.

Something like me orange, whiskers.

Not my human wearing red with flat white and brown things

Bang, oh noise, white and brown things come through hole in wood thing in hole in big square white thing, white thing also has hole in it that has clear stuff in it so I can look out and thing hanging down that makes ringing noise when I play with it.

This odd poem is me trying to describe from my cats perspective. I don’t imagine they have nouns for things, so I haven’t said windows, door, or envelopes but just tried to explain them. I hope this makes sense..

Missing cat

DSC_0542

I found out my sisters beautiful little kitten/cat went missing a few weeks ago. She just disappeared one night. If anyone lives in Rhyl near the coast road  between Prestatyn and Rhyl please can you keep an eye out for her. She is microchipped. This is a bit of a spur of the moment request and I can’t remember her name. I don’t want to upset my sister so I’m just quietly asking.

Thanks for any information.

Can I sharpen my claws

Can I sharpen my claws?

Is it OK to scratch?

You don’t mind my paws

Do you?

Can I sit on the fridge

Watch you take the milk out

Is that cheese you are eating

Can I have just a bit?

Can I lick your face clean?

Are you loving my nose?

I am ready to preen

My whiskers and toes.

Do you think I am fat?

Do you love my long tail?

Can I sit on your hat?

After all I’m all cat. ..

Well balanced

DSC_1709

Just when you think

The day couldn’t get more cat

Another view arrives

Like a third bus,

At the same time ,

With the same number,

On the same route.

Squashed on the lid

My well balanced cat

Canterlevered out

Over space,

Your spine curves and stretches

Round like a bridge

Supported at both ends

Strong.

Your head was tucked down

All snuggled till you saw me.

Levitation is your trick today.

When cats stare

DSC_1708When cats stare what are they seeing? Why do they look at things that don’t seem to exist. I see him pouncing on things but they are not visible to me. A great big purr/miaow yowl… then a rush and land crash onto a chair or leap over a bag or some books.

Seeing the unseen.. A sixth sense? No smell, nothing to feel, no image. I look in the same direction, nothing.

Can cats see into the past or future? Can they see ghosts? He never hisses and his tail does not thrash from side to side. The look is curious, open eyed. Querying the validity of what he sees.

There is a Shakespeare quote from Hamlet, something along the lines of “there are more things on heaven and that are dreamt of in my philosophy Horatio”

Maybe cats can see through our universe. Maybe they can see into the next….
