Four years ago

This was from four years ago in 2015 when me and my hubby went and had a go at air rifle shooting. I’m not trained to use them, it was a one off. We maybe have a go once a year or less. They were not special guns just fairground ones. I think the distance we were shooting was probably four or five meters. The first picture is my hubby’s, the second is mine. I was slightly surprised at how I did. Just found this on Facebook memories.

I have also tried archery but don’t have the strength to shoot far with that.

He was always two faced she said. He does one thing and says the opposite. When he said he was going to cut down the tree I knew he wouldn’t.

Yes, said her friend, he tells you things that can’t be true. I don’t know why he does it.

The two women continued chatting while the man they were talking about stood in the shadows of the trees and listened. He knew they were right, but they had never asked why.

He had been ill for years, not visibly, but inside, the kind of thing that you didn’t talk about. A depression that had encompassed his whole adult life.

He felt compelled to cut down the tree now. He’d said he would but the birds were nesting. He was going to wait for a few weeks till they had flown the nest. But the women’s words had stung him.

He was found the next morning under a limb of the tree. Crushed and battered. No one went to his funeral, except one middle aged woman. She remembered their life together when they were young. She stood and walked away as the coffin disappeared behind the crematorium curtains. His tale would never now be told, she thought.

To be fired?

These three pieces are unfired. I made them a couple of years ago but never got them fired. The coloured one is painted in metallic acrylic paints. I need to hollow them out so that they can go in a kiln. The problem is they are fully dry so it might be difficult to do it. I think I need to dampen them but I don’t want them to dissolve. Made them at Etruria, at the warehouse.

Flowers

The hanging baskets were fine last week but when we came home two of them were upside down on the ground. The screw they had been hung on had given way under their weight and with heavy rain they had collapsed down onto the ground. Now they are hanging forlornly lower down the fence. They might grow and recover. I’m feeding them and watering them. Anyway the photos are of the growth of the other ones. Some are doing better than others. I really need to dead head them (take off dead flowers). It will have to wait till I feel better.

Here’s some patterns I did from them…

Comfort food

DSC_2132

What’s your favourite comfort food.

Mine is simple, banana and custard…

Recipe, to make two portions.

1 large or 2 small bananas per person.

2 heaped table spoonfuls of custard powder.

2 flat tablespoons of sugar (but I use 1 flat table spoonful of sucralose based granulated sweetener)

1 pint of milk.

Method,

Chop the bananas to bite size pieces and put aside in two bowls.

Put two heaped table spoons of custard powder in a mixing bowl. Add sugar (or sweetener). Use less for thinner custard and less sugar for less sweetness.

Add a small amount of milk to the powder to make a thinnish paste.

Put the rest of the milk in a pan and bring to the boil.

Pour the boiling milk onto the custard paste and mix till the custard has dissolved into it.

Pour the mix back into the pan, bring to the boil and continue to boil for a minute or till the custard has thickened. Once it is ready pour over the bananas.

Eat! Don’t forget to wash up.

A strange call

sketch-1564951965056

Someone just phoned. I never answer unknown numbers, but then a text message came through saying I had hit someone’s wing mirror when I was driving and that I had then stopped and left my number on a note on the persons car. He said his car was not damaged and I could forget trying to claim for my wing mirror off him?

I texted back saying I did not know anything about it, and that I would ring the police.

The caller responded by admitting that the number he had contained 12 digits, one of which was blurry but he had tried my number anyway.

The whole thing is very strange. My wing mirror was damaged last week while my car was parked up. It was parked with the drivers side wing mirror against the pavement. I have not hit anyone and certainly if I had I would have stopped and sorted it out. I have never left a note on a car as I have never needed to.

What bothers me is it seems strange that a wing mirror is involved. It sounds like a scam. I’m considering blocking the number. I will keep the texts and report it to the police if there is any other strange communications.

Any thoughts?
