Prompt was exercise

Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was exercise. I haven’t been doing much exercise recently so I wasn’t sure what to do. I watched my cat chasing a ball and so I decided to draw her playing. I think it counts as exercise? Not a brilliant drawing but it’s hard to draw a cat moving so fast!

Still writing gratitudes

I’m on day 66 and I’m still writing and drawing three small gratitudes a day. From getting a good night’s sleep, to playing with the cat, to reading a good book, nothing is too small to be grateful for. I’m sure over these last few weeks it has helped keep me going. Putting positive thoughts in the front of your mind isn’t always the most normal or natural thing to do, but it helps you to step back from what might be a dreadful time. I like drawing and writing, but I’ve got my hubby just writing a few lines every day. It doesn’t have to be profound, that would be amazing, but wonderful things just don’t happen everyday. So accept the small stuff….

Cats

The cats stare at me, what do I mean to them? What do they want? Unblinking, looking silently. The sight is unnerving. And so many cats, all together. Like a jury sitting at a trial. No tails twitch, no ears turn. The concentrated look is infinitely worrying. Like some form of hive mind…. Do cats do that? I thought you couldn’t herd cats, but these ones? They know what they want, and I feel like a mouse in their glaring cats eyes….. Inscrutable…

Sleeping arrangements

One of the cats came and slept on me last night. I don’t know if it was for warmth (probably) or comfort. He lay with his head on my hand and gently purred. The only problem was when I had to get up to go to the bathroom. As I shifted position he moved down by my feet. That was good, so I had a cup of coffee before I went back to bed. But then it was difficult to get back in bed. I tried to slide across the mattress but my feet and knees were bent uncomfortably. The cat didn’t move, so I slowly straightened my legs, but I knew it would come to a point when I would have to push him down the bed. Then our female cat came in the bedroom. She jumped up and the male cat jumped down…. I breathed a sigh and straightend my legs, what a relief !

Comfort cat

Our boy cat is sitting half on a cushion, half on my hubbies lap. This is unusual, he’s always been quite nervous. He will normally sit or lie between us on a cushion between the two arm chairs. He sometimes puts his paws on me, but even now, after a few years, he’s still quite nervous. That’s because he was abandoned by his previous owners and he was living outside for a couple of years. At least now he trusts us after a lot of love and encouragement. Finally, he’s being a lap cat x.

Good morning cat

The cat greeted me this morning. Sitting on the windowledge, stating at me and purring. I knew what she wanted, breakfast. There is just enough space for her to sit next to the glass paperweights I’ve collected over the years. The cats calm me down. They cheer me up. They help me when I feel down. They look for love and give it back in return. Although they are not like dogs, because their love is not unconditional! They tend to want food and can be quite demanding. But when a cat slowly closes its eyes at you in what they call a ‘slow blink’ you know they are sharing their feelings with you.
