He’s on my knee at the moment, purring. I thought I was going to lose him last week but I’ve been trying to pursuade him to eat and this seems to be working. He’s gone from just a liquid diet to a few solids. Tonight he had a bit of white fish, then he ate some kibbles. Later he ate a bit of normal soft cat food and then some soft pate style food with a gravy on top. Now he’s had a few treats! He still has to have medication but it’s good to see him eating again x.
She got on MY bed again
The cheek! She’s too big!
Gets in the way
Her feet are big
Her head is large
She sprawls
Flops and squirms
And all because
Of my paws!
Kneading my knees
Poddling I call it,
Old cat is keen to stay.
I don’t want him to go away.
His life is ebbing
Slowly by
Like a tide moving out
Taking his memory
In its grip.
No more head bumps
No more nuzzles
An empty space expected
Soon.
Stressed! My old cat went out while I was shopping, I realised he was not around and I’ve just been calling him for an hour. I left the back door wide open, I kept whistling, it cuts through traffic noise. I also put messages on WhatsApp and got lots of support – one person even offered to come to look for him, he is not eating much except cat soups and drinking a lot of water. It’s such a worrying time.
I thought he was in the garden but its very overgrown and if I went out looking for him I could easily fall over. BUT thank goodness… He’s back! I feel like the boy who cried wolf!
A metal (cast iron) cold painted black and white cat on my windowsill in the kitchen. I have two. They both peep out through the Christmas cactuses. I don’t know why it’s there, it just is. It stares back at me, he’s quite startling in the right light. I’m seeing things better these days.
One small boy cat
One small girl kitty
One huge
He’s big
He takes up space
Sprawling across the bed
No room for me
I don’t want to shove him
But I want my bed.
He jumps off
Then my little girl cat
Jumps up
And sticks in her claws!
He looks like a kitten
Out in the sunshine
Flowers surround him
Lion hearted kitty
So full of life
But now in shadow.
Cats should be infinite
Beings of magic
Limitless
But as they say
*all good cats must come to an end”
Nine lives almost used up.
I can’t believe he will be gone.
My old boy cat is getting thin. He is on medication for his heart, but that seems to be making him thinner. I don’t know his actual age because he was a rescue cat about 8 years ago. I didn’t find out his age then but he was fully grown. I’m having to accept he won’t be around for much longer. I’m giving him him lots of treats. He’s getting small meals but as often as he wants. I can’t make him eat but I can try and tempt him. At least he can sit in the sun if he wants.
A lady called Mara on Threads was offering to paint quick sketches of cats so I sent a picture of one of mine. She’s done a rapid watercolour sketch and it’s so full of character that I quite like it, it’s charming. I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing. X
Argh! My cat is on tablets twice a day for heart failure. I mix the tablet with water and use a small syringe to get him to swallow it. I forgot I don’t have a lens on the right side of my glasses. So when I squirted the syringe half went in my eye! I have washed my face and doused my eye with water, then used my antibiotic eye drops… I hope I haven’t done any real harm!
