Cat again

Cat made up of tiny purple hearts.

He looks on happily

Proud and smug

He’s the boss

Whiskered and neat

Pure white feet

Sneaked out today

Lying in the neighbours yard

In the bright, late summer sun.

Wouldn’t come when called.

Puncture wounds?

In hubby’s arms

Cats claws leave scars

But he is safe.

Vets bill again

Tomorrow.

Seated abstract

Seated figure. Mark making sketch drawn in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep because of the pain in my leg. I tried to draw a chain like pattern and to see what arrived on the page. I do think it looks interesting and I might add some rusty colours to give it a metallic feel. I think I will do a few more drawings using patterns to make them.

Craggy face

Line drawing (with added shading). It could be a drawing of folded paper. I was just doodling. I do love making things up. I might not be an expert but I do love drawing.

It could be chipped out of rock or cut from wood. It could be 3d, made from plastic sheets, a maquette for a large sculpture… All it is, is lines and shading.

Simple lines, face to face.

It’s interesting to draw with simple lines and yet still try to capture character. Things like the size of eyes, the shape of a chin, the direction to draw lines to indicate where and how hair is growing. Nose shape, mouth shape, thin lips, large eyebrows….

Can you tell the emotions that characters are feeling from a drawing? It’s hard to say… Can you tell if the people are male or female, or young or old? Can you show how big they are, what they weigh?

I think you can tell a lot from line drawings if you try.

Today’s prompt ‘layers’

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was ‘layers’. I didn’t have a clue. I’m sitti g here with my leg up with a pulled calf muscle. I could only think of hens laying eggs, so I imagined a couple of them in a barn. I did take a look at Google after I struggled with how the head looks. It isn’t bad….

Contour 4

Drawn this morning then mirrored and played with in photodirector. The idea is to draw a contour line around ink marks that have bled through from the previous page in my sketchbook. The initial drawing took a couple of hours, the duplication and mirrored images a few minutes. This is a combination of two lots of three images.

Tillys cat cafe

Run to support a cat charity. The cat cafe in Rhyl helps rehome abandoned and unwanted cats. We visited today and had the pleasure of meeting several Cats and Kittens that were so lovely. I’d got to drive home today so it helped relax me before we set out. They also do delicious pancakes and coffee so it was a win win really. X

Rhyl

Rhyl is in the North of Wales and is an old favourite of Midlanders in England and people from the North West who want a seaside holiday.

There are holiday flats, caravans, and hotels. Lots of work is being done on the coastal defences. The sea view includes a windfarm of about 200 wind turbines. They are far enough out to be not too visible. You can see them in my drawing but not so much on the photo…
