Model boat

When you go to look at model train shows you don’t often see boats or ships. I suppose this might be collecting or delivering freight from the train running alongside the quay.

We went to Weymouth several years ago and saw the metal train tracks embedded in the harbour quay. I guess they would have used it for loading fish and shellfish to take to cities like London. I think there are similar lines in Plymouth. I know they had large passenger ships calling in at Plymouth in the past and they still have a ferry service as does Weymouth. Transport is a fascinating subject.

Dusty hands

I saw this and had to take photo of it. Its tucked in a corner and I’m afraid the dust and cobwebs had descended on it. It’s a photo experiment of my hubbies hands from the 1970’s? Funny what you find when you are rummaging in and around things. I know I’ve got too much ‘stuff’.

While I miss one of my cats, I still have to look after the other two. They want attention. Jumping up to see us. But neither are as ‘touchy feely’ as the missing one. A little cuddle and they are off. To get food and drink. To mooch about on the stairs or outside. My heart strings are being pulled left and right.

I miss my old boy cat….

Sun pillar?

I don’t know if you can see on this photo, but there is a slight line of light in the centre of this picture. It’s not bright, but I think it was a ‘sun pillar’. I’ve seen a good one several years ago down in Devon. It’s something to do with sunlight shining up and hitting the clouds. Anyway this was on our walk around the Croft this evening. Stoke-on-Trent about 8.30pm.

Yellow cat!

Yowl! I have a metal cat hanging in the garden, I was going to put a small plant in his mouth but I forgot. Yellow and scared? Frightened? Amazed? He’s certainly got an expressive face. I don’t know how long he will last though, he’s going a little rusty inside. Maybe he’s meant to hold a candle or tea light.h

Was a birthday present and I’ve had him about five years so he’s lasted well. I think the photo came our clearly.

Nasturtium

Flowers outside by our front door. I love the Nasturtium flowers, then I really enjoy the round leaves with slender veins running to a central spot. Nasturtium flowers can be used in salads. I think the leaves and seeds can be eaten too? Orange and pepper flavouring. The blue green grass next to the plants are a nice contrast.

Geese reflected

A double reflection, strangely the bottom photo if flipped but the geese look the right way up?

I think this is two parents and a large family of goslings.

The grey light and the minium ripples give the reflections a better clarity. The water looks like quicksilver, it has a metallic sheen. This is a gentle, slow and harmonious image. Peaceful and almost monochromatic. The birds silhouettes could be cut outs. Like the set of three flying ducks people used to have on their walls. Usually with one duck hanging down for comic effect.

Moth/butterfly

I was looking at this tiny moth or butterfly and decided to take a photo. Not easy without a macro lens. I had to get close enough to take a photo but if I got too close it wouldn’t focus. So I moved away a bit, zoomed in a little bit and leaned on something for stability. (I have a shaking arm and camera shake is an ever present problem). I used the sharpness tool on my phone (only about 2%).

The moth/butterfly is about 2 centimetres wide at its widest part. Pale brown and white. I couldn’t see any antenna. Do moths rest with wings spread out, or closed, that’s why I’m not sure.

Claws and whiskers

Reaching, stretching, paws up, claws out. But he’s only saying hello.

Just look at those whiskers, able to twitch and feel. Helps with moving around in the dark. Used to check a space is wide enough to get through. Pushed forward when he’s interested in something, sniffing and smelling his food or a cat nip toy.

Claws ready to knead and pull, to show he loves you by ‘poddling’. A happy cat….
