Now I’m drawing November circles
I can’t get over the last months drawing challenge so I’ve started a drawing a day in a circle for November.
The first one was just a car outside our house. Not very exciting. What I think I will do is post the pictures every week or so rather than individual ones.
This made me laugh though, my hubby likes having cool feet. He probably won’t wear shoes till December. I think he’s odd but it’s his choice.

Escher’ish’
One of my favourite artists is Escher. His endless staircase and morphing fish into birds always intrigued me.
There is his self portrait which shows a hand holding a mirrored metallic globe. In it you see a bearded man. The image looks like a fisheye lens, the room around him is curved as the reflection follows the shape of the sphere. I think there are bookcases and stairs and windows reflected in it.
I only posted this because my drawing in homage to his came up on my Facebook memories today. It’s a digital drawing done on my Wacom tablet before my computer stopped working. That reminds me I must get it fixed……
Phoenix
I drew this a couple of years ago. I was trying to find something magical but not the usual Halloween images of pumpkins or spiders webs. The story of the phoenix rebirth from fire is quite ancient. There was a children’s programme in the 1970’s that had a phoenix at the heart of it. I remember it being quite badly done because it was before CGI, but I think I enjoyed it. Perhaps it was on at Sunday tea time? It was in the era before children got their own TV channels. I don’t remember much more about it.

My 31, one inch drawing challenge sketches. I’ve done them with Stoke Urban Sketchers. I have really enjoyed it. I’d be up for a November challenge. Its like keeping a diary, I didn’t realise how much I’d do in a month. I’m not posting the final drawing on the challenge page until tomorrow, but I thought I’d include it here.

I love horses
Horses, ponies, zebras too,
I like them all, yes I do.
Galloping, cantering, jumping high,
Flying hooves, hit the sky.
Running, flying, beautiful beast
Marvellous, wonderful, not the least
Beautiful figure, elegant grace

Autumn drawing
Just a doodle using the winter tree idea but with autumn leaves. The base is meant to be pebbles and rocks with a mountain stream running below the tree. Faces of spirits again populate the tree. I think they would be more aggressive or annoyed than the winter one, Im not sure why. Perhaps the cold autumn winds are getting on their nerves! I love the dark crystal film and the creatures in there, maybe that’s what’s influencing me?

Ink drawing
And so the month of October draws to an end, with cold nights and bright breezy days. I’m stuck in with a bit of a cold so I drew what was on my easle. I’m slowly catching up with painting. I thought I had to do a craft fair on Saturday but it turns out I filled in the form in July, but forgot to email it in! (head in hands). But with having a cold it might be an idea not to pass it on.
The drawing is of two paintings and a little canvas and stand….. I need to get out but not while I’m feeling rough. Hope I’ll feel better tonight as I’ve got things on!
28 days
Well it’s been 28 days since I started the 1″ challenge started with Stoke Urban Sketchers. I’ve only got three more to do. When I look back there are a lot of different ideas in here. It wasn’t always easy to think of things to draw. Only three more days to go.
Sketched
My very full mantlepiece and the pictures above it. I am a mad collector of cat ornaments and love collecting art. I think I drew this a few months ago before the one inch challenge. I might try and do a tiny version of this for that. As with black and white photos, I enjoy drawing in black ink.
