Swallow falls, out in the wilds of mid Wales, on the way to Snowdonia near Beddgelert. Its a beautiful place. I’ve only visited it once about twenty years ago. This drawing was based on an Internet search as waterfalls was the prompt for #bandofsketchers on Tuesday.
Sketch of two Canada geese at Westport Lake today. I know their necks are too long. We went for a short walk but the wind was quite cold. So I decided to sit down and draw some of the birds and a view of the rippling water on the lake. While we were there a young man went up to one of the fishing platforms on the lake and started dipping his feet in. He was acting very strangely so we watched incase we needed to ring for an ambulance. But he came over to us and asked us if we wanted to buy a camera? Very strange. So I finished the sketch and we left. I hope he was OK but it was hard to know what to do.
I can’t stop experimenting. This time I drew overlapping triangles. Am I boring you? I think this kind of drawing is a meditation. It’s a way of ignoring the the world. Taking the time to place each shape and space them evenly apart. Does anyone else doodle or draw? It helps my mental health. I’m very visual and I have to create. I can’t stop….
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was California. I decided to draw bright orange Californian poppies, Escholtsia? Not sure of the spelling. I’ve tried to grow them a few times but not been very successful. I think they need more sunlight than we have. Anyway this image was off an old seed packet. X
I want to know what is happening with my brain and nerves. I am still struggling with a shaking left arm and hand, and cramps in my left leg and foot. I think it’s a trapped nerve, but it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I’m hoping when I finally get to see a doctor I will get a good result and hopefully it can be fixed. Meanwhile I’m thankful it’s on my left side as I’m right handed. It makes some things more difficult and it’s tiring and frustrating. I know I’ve moaned about this before, but it’s getting to me. I wrote this yesterday but then forgot to publish it. And I’m getting forgetful with some words, but I’m hoping thats just stress! I went for an eye appointment set for the 29th, except it’s in June, not May! No wonder they were not open….Help
Sketch of the choir I’m in from 2019, when we could meet up in person and sing. We have got back together after a period of trying to learn songs over Zoom. Not easy, you can only copy the choir leader, not sing together. If you try everything is out of sequence. Now we are back together and learning choral pieces. Proper three and four part harmonies. We even have new members joining us. Just have to remember to do a lateral flow test before we meet.
Using a digital filter can make a difference to an image. It somehow tidies up the image. It adds a different quality to pen lines. This was done with photodirector/effects/style, choice two. Initial drawing was brown and pale green felt pens.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was monument. I was going to draw the Duke of Sutherlands monument near Trentham Gardens. But then I came across this stone I painted as a memorial to my cat about fifteen years ago. This bought back memories of a lovely intelligent cat. Must repaint it.
Adding layers of dots to a sketched pattern I did. Then I mirrored it. Someone on Instagram says I’m getting too psychedelic! I just love playing with patterns. In this case polka-dots! It reminds me of 1960’s Pop Art, but more abstract!
