I like looking at clouds. I’m a member of the cloud appreciation society. I then like playing with cloud photos.
Does anyone else see a cat or a rabbit in the final picture. It reminds me of an inkblot test.
What’s up doc?
New paintings and regular art updates.

As we left Etruria tonight a red glow was spreading at the bottom of the grey clouds. As we got up to the top of the hill it had spread across the sky with the sun peeping through. This was a reminder of ‘red sky at night, shepherd’s delight, red sky in the morning shepherd’s take warning’. I’m hoping this means things will cool down tomorrow. I’ve got a lot of things to do. The temperature reached 38.6°C and we are not used to it here. Global warming seems to be getting worse. I do wonder if we can get the temperature under control. The anthropocene era seems likely to be one of mass extinctions sadly.
After such a hit humid day Britain is now being hit by big thunderstorms. I watch an app called blitzortnung and you can see lightening strikes from around the world. He thunderstorms that we’re here an hour ago have moved up towards the North East of the country, but it looks like another line of storms is on its way up from the Midlands. I tried to take some photos but the first few didn’t work very well because my phone camera was on automatic. By the time it had decided on an exposure the flash was gone (orange coloured sky photos caused by street lamps) then I realised if I set lit on the basic manual mode I would get quicker ictures despite the view on the camera being darker. The purplish photos were from doing that. I managed to actually catch a bolt of lightning! The bright one, like daylight was just an extremely bright flash.
Now its raining again. No doubt we will have more but its 3.39am….
Goodnight

My husband almost sat on this bee. I tried to give it some water but it flew off.
As the paper said in the seventies “phew what a scorcher”.
I managed to get quite close then used the zoom on my phone. The metal look plastic weave on the chair make it interesting and I like the detail on the bee and the folded wings. You can just see the antenna on the left side so that’s the head end x
Water is a wonderful compound, and having rain from the sky is great. The only problem is that with the effects of climate change, rain isn’t always easy to live with.
Into each life a little rain must fall is a quote from a song I think . But in this world it falls either too much, or too little in some cases. There are floods in some countries, while others see no rain for years and deserts expand. Micro bursts of rain dump a mass of rain rapidly in a limited area while the surrounding area remain dry causing havock. We have thunderstorms here that are much larger and more violent than in the past and the same is happening all over the world. And rain also causes erosion which destroys cliffs and washes away soil. When man cuts down forests the ability of trees and plants to store water and allow it to be slowly released is diminished. Rain falls in places like the Amazon which help to regulate the weather systems of the world. Now that the goverment of the country is allowing more deforestation the concern is that the weather and rain patterns will be seriously or even catastrophically affected.
Man (and woman) need to take responsibility and keep this world safe for future generations. Rain gives and takes life.

The storm blew in from the North like a runaway train. The wind threw water against the houses. Cars were lifted up by the flood and were caught on the top of the neat hedges that lined the sides of the street. Out of the maelstrom came a figure of a small man dressed in a black raincoat. Water streamed from him, it flowed out of his sleeves and trouser legs. Tears streamed in rivers from his eyes, nose, mouth and even from his ears.
He was called Beck and he was from the North. He was a water god and he had decided to show mankind his might because of the way the World was being treated. He was angry and the storm was growing into a tornado. He had seen the way forests were being cut back, cars clogging roads, ships travelling half way across the world to deliver the cheapest sweatshop goods.
Beck lifted his arms, words bubbled up from his mouth.
Learn or die! He screamed in a high voice. Learn, or, die !
Old pine tree, gnarled and twisted,
cracked and crumbling,
roots deep in the ground.
Wind rises, pushes against the pine
boughs flying, bent back
air soughing through you limbs
great gusts destroy you.
Old pine, gone.

Rain, some people never get any, others get monsoons. Here in temperate Britain we get our fair share but the South East gets less. Up here in the Midlands we usually have reasonable amounts and we rarely have hose pipe bans.
This year we had a really mild February followed by a wet and windy spell. Now in June the temperature is lower than usual and we are stuck under a low pressure area, so it keeps raining. Don’t expect to get enough vitamin D either. It’s overcast and grey.
Apparently the Jet Stream in the upper atmosphere if swinging backwards and forwards, sending Low pressure areas down riwards us or up from the bay if biscay. High pressure and a stable weather situation seem far away.
The weather in the east has been very bad for a change and there are floods in Lincolnshire. Rivers have burst their banks, and as a lot of the land is below sea level, the embankments and river edges are overflowing. Homes have been flooded. Life is interesting.

Thunder unravels the sky
Lightning flashes coruscate over the ruins
The world spirals around you.
Forcing the trees to bend down to your power.
Thors hammer beats the ground.
Another flash, a bough falls.
Stones crash and crump
Thudding down onto the ground.
Your hands conduct a symphony of gestures.
One more flash, then you are gone.
We have just come back from a very wet Yorkshire. We stayed in a lodge in the woods. It was very nice, but damp.

There is a lake at the place where we stayed and we saw ducks and geese with youngsters walking through the woodlands. The only shame is that they are going to cut down some of the trees so people can get WiFi. I’d rather go without it and keep the trees.
We drove out to Fountains Abbey and I tried to draw it but the rain was coming down and the ink pen ran. However we had some very nice food in an Italian restaurant by the side of the River Wharfe.

Now I think I need an early night. I will try and catch up with WordPress over the next couple of days.
