In and out (or how I’m being trained by an outdoor cat)! ðŸ’•

In, 3pm, slept on the bed for four hours..

In, 11pm. Has some food, goes back out..

In 1am, goes upstairs for half an hour, then out…

Stayed up and watched a film, called him in at 3.30am….eats, goes upstairs with us, sleeps on end of bed.

Me, gets up at 6.30am for a bathroom visit. He follows, scoffs lots of food, sniffs litter trays, asks to go out…

Me, can’t go back to bed incase he wants to come back in..

7am, listening to the morning radio news…

Quiet day

A day of peace and quiet. Outdoor cats slept on the bed most of the day. He popped out for a couple of hours this morning and the same this afternoon. He’s back up there now.

I’ve spent the day recovering, had a few glasses of wine last night and as I don’t drink much usually it had a bad effect! Ooo my head.

I’m still coming to terms with the WordPress changes. Since I have my blogs linked to Facebook they keep being posted there now. I only want my art posts going there but I can’t find the place to switch them off? Anyone know?

Almost the end of 1.1.21…..goodnight

He comes home when I whistle

The outdoor cat is now more of an outside cat. I call his name (he remains anonymous here) and whistle him and he comes in. I have to wait a few minutes while he mooches round the garden. He woke me up this morning by lying on me in bed for a cuddle, then up he got and slipped downstairs. I followed to let him out ( my indoor cats) also anonymous, have been out a couple of times but end up hiding under garden benches. They are a lot smaller and I think would get picked on by the ginger Tom who also patrols our garden.

After half an hour and a decaff coffee to warm me up, I whistled him about three times and he came back in from the cold and dark. He’s eating biscuits at the moment, having his fill. Next? He might go out to mooch again, but I hope he stays in.

By the way, I don’t know how many people whistle their cats, but it seems to carry better. I’ve done it since I was a child I developed some notes along the line of a ‘cat where are you?’ tune….ah he’s gone back upstairs…. Bye

Outside cat update.

You know that feeling when you might be being taken advantage of? The outside cat came in at about 6pm. Had a meal, a good drink, then popped upstairs to sleep on our bed. Now, 11.30pm, he’s come down, come and looked at us for a minute in the living room, gone off, had a drink, then waited by the back door to be let out.

Cats, they really do have humans under their claws! I’m supplying bed, breakfast and an evening meal. I do think he’s getting more social, but he’s got the best side of the deal!

Woke up to the outside cat on the bed…

He stayed the night again and I woke up with a very happy cat snuggled on the bed. So much so, when I got up and made a coffee I couldn’t get back in bed easily because he was weighing the duvet down! I think he’s transitioned to an indoor/ outdoor cat now. Which is good because he can spend winter in the warmth of his new home.

Outdoor cat likes our bed!

Guess who I found had snuggled up on our bed! He only stayed in for a couple of hours then went back out. Last night he came in late and only went out at 7.30am.Hes very polite, goes and yowls by the back door when he wants out, or if we have gone to bed he comes up and wakes me up! After three years outside that we know about this is really good progress. Goodness knows why he was abandoned, he’s very sweet.

Between us

A great big cat, he’s clearly moving in. Stayed most of last night and got in bed with my hubby last night under the duvet! When I got up at 7.30 he was asking to go out (outdoor cat, not hubby!) Now he’s sleeping on the doubled arms of the armchairs, between us. Sometimes a questing paw reaches out to rest on my arm. Little claws kneading slightly…. He is a very big cat. I think because if he wasn’t he would not have survived. Sleeping cat, happy cats!

Two boys

On the settee… Indoor and outdoor cats are tolerating each other. These are the two boys, the girl cat sleeps upstairs. There is a bit of trouble over sleeping spots. They seem to like a spot and take it, then the other one comes along and snuggles there instead.

One thing I am trying is stroking their cheeks. Apparently the spray you can buy with pheromones to calm cats down is based on the scent they give off from the scent glands in their cheeks. So I guessed if you stroke one cats cheek, then stroke the other one it might help. It’s certainly helped them get used to each other..

Hmm. Almost bedtime, will I have to get u to let outdoor boy out later? We will see….

Under the cats eye

Scrutiny, he watches, he’s the outdoor boy. Making sure you love him, have treats ready. A tickle behind his ears, under his chin, cheek rubbed. His cut nose is healing, not caused by our cats…

Then a look, aloof, I’ve had enough, I’m going out. He stands, stretches, front paws first, then back legs, doing the ‘downward cat’. Yowl, let me out. Gently closing his eyes looking up at me. I am under his spell. I’m OK while he’s out but as soon as he comes back. I’m gone. Xx

His belly!

The outdoor cat trusts me enough to show me his belly and he let me stroke it. Cats are very nervous of doing this, so they really are careful about rolling over and showing their tummies. I feel very honoured that he’s let me do that.

He’s back in this evening out of the cold. The other cats are continuing to tolerate him. I think soon he will be a (mostly) indoor cat too!
