Potting bench and moss

It’s wet under the trees, and the old bench that sits next to the kitchen gets damp. We don’t sit on it very often and it’s started to fall apart. I guess we should have varnished it when we got it. Maybe we should replace it with a metal one? Now it’s basically used for pots and potting on. The moss is getting rampant. The leaves need clearing up. Oh well, we live and learn.

Mushrooms or fungi?

A plethora of fungi in the garden today, not sure what they are, but we have an old tree stump and I think these are growing on its roots? I need to clear away all the empty flowerpots, give them a good wash so we can pot plants on in the spring. We spent a couple of hours planting pyracantha and roses next to the old hedge, hoping they grow up nice and spiky.

Hanging baskets hanging on!

Begonias, still in flower, In our hanging baskets….In November! I think its because their stems are a bit more robust. The fushias, with woody stems have also survived. There are also lots of green leaves because this area is a bit of a microclimate and things just survive round there. It’s enclosed so it holds the heat. Also the plants all shelter each other holding the warmth in x

Where are our frogs?

Image from BCB exhibition

We were in the garden today topping off the new bamboo fence with chicken wire to extend the height. As we stood next to the old pond I wondered if the frogs have snuggled down in the mud for winter? We need to replace the liner, but it’s going to be too cold for a few months. Perhaps we should wait until after frogspawn season.

Frogs seem to have controlled the slug population, we have Hostas happily growing next to the pond, and the leaves look healthy. Now we’ve got on top of the fencing issue I feel a little safer.

Although a man did walk along the alleyway today as we were working, hubby told him to go away in no uncertain terms!

Not these

I don’t think my insurance company would appreciate me giving out details of what I bought and how much it cost. This post may be fun, but it’s encouraging people to share information that might just be tempting enough to cause a theft.

Yes I know I might be overreacting, but my Jetpack account gets shared to other social media sites. People here might not know where I live, but others do.

I’d like to know who writes these prompts? I try to answer most of them, then I wonder if I’m being foolish? Yes it’s more content for my page, and it saves me having to think about a topic sometimes. But am I letting my guard down too much! I can chose my own topics and be circumspect, but answering others questions can be too enlightening for your own good. Beware…

I don’t

What podcasts are you listening to?

I’ve never got into podcasts, I’m not even sure what they are? Are they radio shows that include video, or TV shows, on the Internet? I guess like anything else they can have their own style and substance.

I don’t have an iPhone, do you need one of those to listen to podcasts? Are they short programmes or long ones. If you call something a podcast does that mean it really is? I watch lots of videos, because I’m a visual person, and although I can pick up a tune or understand an argument, I’m not necessarily an aural person. I’m not into music, not in a big way, I tolerate it, and unless it’s a particular classical style I can pretty much leave it.

Please give some examples of good podcasts, and I will try and catch them?

Camera view

Garden

Leaves falling sets the camera off, cats walking past, our reflections in the window. But I don’t care. We can check if someone’s out there. I’m fed up of feeling like a security guard. If I had a camera when our sheds were broken into we might have put them off, or they might have been caught. Now I can check my phone when I get an alert. Just got to figure it out!
