Today I was at a craft fair in Penkhull. It was good to see some friends and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I hadn’t realised that it was Victorian themed, I should have liked to have looked a bit more authentic.
The result was that I managed to cover my costs and made enough to go out and get some new canvases to do some more tiny paintingsthus afternoon.
I was pleased that a couple of Owl paintings and one of a Peacock butterfly sold. Its always good to feel that they are going to good homes. I know sometimes I’m too attached to them, but I can’t help feeling protective of them. I hope I can do it again next year.

I couldn’t fit all my pictures onto the stall today, but I got most of them on, plus some prints.
I got up at 7.40 but dispite trying to be there at 8.30 it was after 9 before I got there….ice to scrape off the car and then slow traffic. I’m lucky it didn’t snow, it was forecast!
The village hall is an old school and we were in the main room. Lots of crafts and charity stalls. I won a few things in the raffle and tombola. We finished about two and then it was time to pack up and try and fit all my paintings in my boxes, that’s an art in itself.

Finished tree decorations…. I think they are OK. I’ve tried to make them festive. I’ve attached ribbons so they can hang off a tree. Well I will be trying to sell them at the craft fair I’m doing in the morning…. More to do.. I’m trying to do a painting of Frost. I’ve used lots of metallic paint, I think it’s in need of more detail though.

I’m channelling Christmas and painting little canvases as tree decorations. They need more layers and the colours sorting out….. They will have green ribbons on them so they can hang off a Christmas tree. Backs to be painted black to blend into the shadows…

And so the month of October draws to an end, with cold nights and bright breezy days. I’m stuck in with a bit of a cold so I drew what was on my easle. I’m slowly catching up with painting. I thought I had to do a craft fair on Saturday but it turns out I filled in the form in July, but forgot to email it in! (head in hands). But with having a cold it might be an idea not to pass it on.
The drawing is of two paintings and a little canvas and stand….. I need to get out but not while I’m feeling rough. Hope I’ll feel better tonight as I’ve got things on!
Well, it rained. As you can see from the photos. Even so it was good to do the craft fair at spode today. I met some lovely people who were very helpful despite the fact I was having a bad morning. I’d arrived after very little sleep and getting up later than I intended.
It was lovely to hear classical music being played by a violinist, he was really good. Sadly I didn’t get his name.
I didn’t do that well. I don’t know if I was too close to the door, or if my art was not trendy enough. I sold a few things and some people took cards with my details on. I am shattered but happy. I may not have made a fortune, but made some good friends.

I think this is my last painting for the craft fair, I’m getting too tired. This owlet was on a calendar and I couldn’t resist painting it. I think it is so cute. X
I find painting feathers and fur difficult. You can’t paint every strand of hair, tuft of fur, or every feather but if I can get a good impression of the details, that will have to do.
So many different talents, including lino cut printing, carved wood, making strum sticks and dulcimers.. I had my paintings and glass necklaces again. The fair was on from 11 to 4 but that didn’t include setting up and taking down so it was more like right hours.
There were some lovely kind people there and I got a lot of interest if not that many sales. The setting was inside the Potbank Hotel, which was good as it rained all day. Coming to the fair was a way of staying dry.
Artisan or craft? Probably artisan, the work was predominantly artistic and the crafts on display were of a very high standard.
Would I do it again. Yes I guess so.

I was sitting by my stall at a craft fair run by market_@_48 at Spode potbank Hotel today. I realised Stoke Urban Sketchers were there so I decided to ask for a couple of sheets of paper and I managed to draw the view from my stall and then of a singer called merrym’n who was singing songs about stoke-on-trent and his songs were very good.
I will post pictures of the craft fair, there were some very interesting stalls.
