Flower of passion

We went out this afternoon for a shopping trip because I need new shoes. I managed to drive myself to the shopping village in Trentham. It’s been a month since I have been allowed in the car because of my eye operation. It’s only a couple of miles but it could have been fifty. I felt so anxious, but so pleased to get the skill back. Luckily I was with my sister so felt more confidence.

While I was at the village I saw this lovely passion flower. A good reminder of the day.

Cat and cataract update

Today I had my operation. I was very nervous. To calm myself down I sang during surgery! The surgeon encouraged me. He wants to do my other eye too! I’ve got an eye guard on now. I can see the  side on the right is a lot brighter and whiter. My left eyesight is much yellower. So TV looks odd. I realise how much my sight had been affected..must be careful not to bend over….. My cat is OK BTW. Need to give him another tablet soon.  He’s going to be on them for life.
Two weeks till I can have a checkup for both him and me. Hard to type, my eye keeps tearing up. Better stop..

Cataract eve

No WordPress free images, not that sort!

I am due in surgery tomorrow so I was going to tidy up and remove trip hazards. But that was before one of my cats decided to be ill. I spent a lot of this morning trying to entice him into his pet carrier. In the end I had to scoop him into it. I didn’t know what was wrong with him but he was breathing fast. It wasn’t right so I took him to the vets.

It turns out he might have heart failure, so he’s now on tablets for the rest of his life. I don’t know what I’ll do if passes away, but at least I found out in time.

So anyway the operation is tomorrow.

I’ve done nothing to get organised, just been napping this afternoon. I will have to get up early tomorrow. But I feel relieved that my cat will be OK. How I will get the tablets in him while I am recuperating? I don’t know.

My colour sight…

Blue seems turquoise these days. My cataracts have shifted my colour vision. I see it in every television programme. I noticed it a few months ago. I had thought it was because a special new colour had been chosen on fashion grounds. But now I’m pretty certain it’s me. Hope it will be sorted out if and when I have an operation. At least I am in good company with the famous impressionist Claude Monet.

Cataracts

What is one thing you would change about yourself?

My eyes are going fuzzy round the edges… My central vision is OK. I’m allowed to drive but I’m wearing sunglasses at night when I drive because it limits the glare from other cars headlights. My optician is monitoring them as eventually I should be able to have an operation to remove them. It’s making fine details difficult to see and it’s getting very frustrating.

Eye news

Oh dear! I thought things were getting a bit ‘fuzzy’. I just had my eye test and they are. So far things are not bad, just a blurring round the edge of my lenses, like fogged up glasses when you come in from the rain, or being dazzled by the sun. My central vision is clear. But it’s something to keep an ‘eye’ on literally and metaphorically.

I need to eat healthily and have anti-oxidants in my diet. I will try and do everything I have to. I just don’t want to lose my eyesight, art means so much to me, reading too. I just hope this is a gradual process. I know it can be treated, I hope when I need it, it is.
