When you want to try and draw a detailed tin but it’s a bit too complicated. Why not try a graphite stick and do a rubbing? Then I added shading for the sides and a bit of black ink for the shadows with my calligraphy pen (I do like it).
New paintings and regular art updates.

Looking back at old drawings, I did this in April last year. The tree shapes are in our net curtains. I quite like this because it’s a simple way of adding pattern… I’m doing an ‘in/inside’ drawing for a prompt tomorrow. Might play with the idea of inside looking out…..

Snow clouds, but not much snow, just little bobbles like polystyrene bits, or tiny fuzzy flakes. Apparently the east of the country is badly hit with thick drifts of snow, we just have the freezing winds at the mo!

My favourite occupation at the moment is drawing with anything I can get my hands on. This is with an ink roller. I have drawn with boot polish in the past. I also like black quink ink that splits into blue and brown if you add a bit of water.
At the moment we are doing drawing exercises for college. Doing a single line drawing without looking at the page and we have to draw movement? It’s all about observation. I need to start but have been ill with vertigo…. Oh well, it will happen…
If you want something difficult to draw with try one of those ink rollers that you can cover over your name and address with.
I decided to see how it would handle. The answer? Hard to manipulate. Difficult to draw thin and curved lines.
Anyway, this is a profile portrait of my hubby.

Time is flying, under five hours to the new year here in the UK. The prompt was resolution and I decided to draw my new watch and some of the zodiacal names. It’s been fun sketching over the last year and we will carry on into 2021…

I almost forgot to post today’s prompt for our #bandofsketchers group. The category was Monochrome. I decided to draw a few Christmas presents in black and white. Is that duochrome?
Anyway I tried to draw the calendar we got for 2021, a cat moneybox, a synthetic pearl necklace with a mother of pearl pendant, and a book on Art and Illustration.

Doodle using a program called ArtRage oils. I started with some black “paint” then used a dry brush to spread it out. If you use this it sort of fades the paint. Then I changed to another brush which again uses a paint. I used a black, then white version of the tools to draw in a few sketchy details. This is drawn with a finger not a stylus.

Keeping warm in front of the heater, queuing up for the best spot. One washes, the other watches. Then off goes the one furthest from the fire. And the other lies down in front of it. Turns over on his back. And looks smug!

Indoor and outdoor boys are getting closer to each other. They slept about a foot apart for about an hour tonight. Now outdoor boy is sitting in the arm of my chair and purring loudly. I stroked his chin and he dribbled on my hand. He’s not quite used to being stroked though. I think he doesn’t want to be disturbed, just to he allowed to sleep in the warm. My indoor cats love being fussed. He’s settled again. I think he might sleep now.
