Found texture again

I went back to an app I like because I had used it to texturise images in the past. I’d stopped using it (photodirector) because a lot of the options had changed and I couldn’t find the one that did this (adding wavy patterns to my original artwork). But I had another look and found what I wanted under “art style” I think. You then have varied options to alter the texture and colour. This was my favourite stye. The other thing is you can go back and put it through the same or another texturiser again. So pleased I found it.

A friend said he would sit for a quick portrait as long as he would not be.identifiable! I did a painting in bright blocks of colour. It’s a small acrylic on board
At the end of the session he took it home. It’s called Harly-Quin.

While I was at the group art exhibition yesterday I did some painting. One of them was this small oblong painting of an apple tree at sunset. This is a little work in progress. I’m trying not to muddy the colours. The sky needed to be light and fresh. More to do? More leaves, maybe a little better blending of the blues. Acrylic on canvas.

I went out and picked up a few leaves today as there hadn’t been much rain lately and they are starting to turn interesting colours. I might paint the background as a puddle with sky and clouds reflected in it. I will have to consider it. Acrylic on canvas, work in progress….

Decided to paint a pumpkin today. Acrylic on canvas. It’s for a food festival that’s coming up, our art group is doing pictures of vegetables and fruit to illustrate the theme

This took about 2 hours to paint. It’s a little bigger than A4. It’s sort of a mixture of halloween and nature.

Some mini paintings including abstracts, I’m trying to get some work done for a small stall at Etruria Industrial museum in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire this weekend. It’s the last steaming of the princess engine this year. I haven’t done anything for months but I finally got some miniature canvases so decided to have a go.

Picked up some paints today including metallic. Some of a group I’m in are doing pictures for a food festival and so I thought I’d join in. Acrylic on canvas. I think I made the apple look shiny, based on a previous digital drawing.

Brampton Open Exhibition

Lucky to get my painting “mend him” into the Brampton open exhibition in the Brampton museum and art gallery, in Newcastle under Lyme. Staffordshire. It’s on from 14th October I think. The painting is a portrait of my hubby I started last year and finally finished a couple of months after he passed away. I miss him. This is my in memoriam tribute to him.

I had decided to enter it as “not for sale” but the gallery wanted all images to be up for sale so I put a large (very large) price on it to virtually guarantee it won’t be sold. It’s very personal to me, but I wanted people to see it.

It’s acrylic on canvas and I started it in my Studio in Spode Site, Stoke. I finished painting it there after I decided to leave due to not being able to afford the studio rent any longer. It means this is the last painting I completed there.

Commissioned acrylic on canvas. A surreal abstracted spirit : Green woman. With antlers adoring her head. It’s taken months to finish because I shake even though it’s only about A4 size. I imagine her standing in a grotto of trees, hidden from mortal view. She is nature, watching carefully as the land changes through time. She fights for the natural world and environment.

I’ve been trying to paint a galaxy over a few weeks, dots and smudges, dots and smudges…. Then I got a bit bored so I looked up images of the sci-fi classic Dr Who and decided to add his tardis with a bit of a sparkle to make it a bit more dramatic. X
