Experimenting again with 4inch square canvas boards and frames…

I’m just noodling and doodling some different ideas. Abstract and abstracted landscape. Then I’ve got a few miniatures to work on….
New paintings and regular art updates.

What have I done today? After getting my results I decided to have a go at the new scientist crossword. Er… Help…. I got quite a lot but what is a US term for a bulrush or reed ace (7)? Or slow motion of earth down a slope (4,5)? I think it’s interesting that a ‘quick’ crossword for scientists is a slow one for me!
My head hurts. I sometimes sneak a look at a crossword clue answers page, but I try not to. Wow, the excitement!

Another pattern that I can see creatures in. This time bats I think. Drawn with spirals, squares and triangles, tried to make them a little, 3d. I thought leaving some white space around the shapes gave it a bit more of an interesting look.

Chunky curves, squares and triangles. Growing across the page. I keep doing these. I enjoy making up patterns that can be expanded or manipulated.
Black ink again, thin fine liner. I has fun with it.

Painting by Bonnard. The art group I’m in are taking squares from this image and producing copies to be linked back together. I think the plan is to get it finished by the end of December. Plans are also being discussed to collaborate over a Christmas card. It’s good to be doing this despite being in lockdown again. At least we get to share artwork even if we don’t physically meet.
I think this is the third or fourth one we have done. I’ve already completed square 2 but I’m doing square 6 as well. I’m going to try and get it done soon.

Quick sketch with pencil colours and fine line black ink.
Two square canvases and a square card. All sitting on my little easle and a paintbrush and plastic tub I use for a palette.
I lined around the coloured pencil to define the square shapes and subjects more, but I didn’t want to overdo things. I do like being challenged to draw different things. Been loving USK prompts.

Only just found a couple of extra options on my phone sketch app, so thought I’d have a play with creating tessellations. Quite nice. Where blocks or tiles join up to form larger repeating patterns.
