Wouldn’t it be loverly

I just sang a solo at the Penkhull at the Musicals event. I was singing the penultimate song and I’d sung with the choir with no mishaps. I’d even got the words right in a small solo part way through umpapah umpapah from the musical Oliver.

I’d chosen a short song from My Fair Lady, ‘wouldn’t it be loverly’ the one that starts all I want is a room somewhere. I’ve practiced it for weeks and been fine. But, although I started OK, phew, the second verse went wrong, I repeated the wrong words three times, then went off in a different key!  but  I managed to hold it together and finished OK and people applauded. I’m glad it was a friendly crowd. I do struggle with singing along with a piano. I prefer a cappella. But I did OK in the end. Glad it’s over!

And the moon landed on his head….

One of my Christmas presents was a night light, about 18 inches in diameter that is based on the moon. It lights up as a full moon but you can also set it to gently run through phases like the real moon with a remote control.

Last night I couldn’t sleep. The nightlight gives enough light, if you sit up in bed, to read a book by. So about six am I got the novel I’m reading out and read for about twenty minutes. Then I lay down to try and sleep. I reached up to turn out the light with the little switch at the base of it. Oops! I pushed too hard, the large plastic domed moon slid off the little nail it was loosely hooked on, it slid sideways as I tried to grab it, and bump! Hit my hubby on the head. He was fast asleep but shouted out wha? Then fell back to sleep. This morning after hooking the moon back up, I asked him if he remembered being hit by the moon. He replied he wondered what had happened? I said the Moon fell on him!

Mince pie floater?!

Oops! I watched in horror as my mince pie slid from the plate, past the cat, down into my fresh mug of tea! Errr… It floated for a while then started it’s inevitable sinking. Like the Titanic movie at Christmas it was soon glugging (with bubbles) out of sight!

How had it happened? A jogged elbow, a tipped plate, the cats paw? It just happened.

Rescue mission? I took a spoon and tried to fish it out, like a trawler reaching its net down into the murky depths. But the disintegration had started and the tea was dissolving the pastry. I decided I could drink the tea, and then spoon out the pie as I drank. I did. Turns out pie pastry isn’t as nice when dunked as rich tea biscuits. But waste not, want not. But the minced fruit was nice. However I would not recommend it as a tasty treat!

Window open

Brrrr. I’m sitting feeling quite cold. Our central heating system is due to be serviced but even though its a very cold day I was expecting a bit more warmth… Its been a sunny day so it helped warm up the house…. But then hubby just said ‘I’d better shut the bedroom window!’ Wait? WHAT?

He had opened it about six hours ago because it was too hot up there. So I’ve had the central heating on full blast and we have effectively been heating the whole atmosphere!!! I asked him, again, not to do this, but he’s forgetful and he likes fresh air. Tempted to shut all the heating off….. Then he said I’d better turn the hose off… Ape that’s been on for four or five hours. No doubt there are icebergs in the garden now! Grrr and Brrrr

Cat-astrophe!

This is my older boy cat. Sitting in his box in the kitchen, like butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth….

This morning he ran in the bathroom. He usually jumps up on the lid of the toilet, then up onto the cupboard by the window to nibble at the plant in there…

Oh no! The lid was up. He jumped, slid and slipped across the seat, plop, splash! Into the toilet bowl (luckily cleaned this morning). Poor cat! Miaow! Very wet cat! He was fine. But I will remember to keep the lid down. I hope he’s a bit more cautious tomorrow!

Oops!

Remind me not to optimise my photos when my antivirus advises me to! My phone is crammed with pictures, like the one above. But they are all over the place now. They were sort of in date order now anything from last year is stuck together in the file for October 2020. Yes I’ve saved a lot of space, but the recent things I was working on have gone walkabout! Grr

I’m going to have to try and find them again, I’ve got a commission to do and I need those photos! Plus I’ve optimise them, which means they are a lot smaller. And I’ve deleted the originals… But when you have THOUSANDS of photos what can you do?

Grr…

Trike trouble

Oops

! One of the trike wheels collapsed when hubby did a tight turn. The rim had rusted on the inside and lost strength. We are going to try and have new rear wheel rims and spokes fitted for both wheels as it’s an old kit that can be attached to a bike frame. It’s old but worth restoring.

There’s an old fashioned bike shop up the hill. We are hoping to get the rims sorted at not too much expense. I would prefer to get both done.

Fingers crossed 🤞
