Will Christmas be cancelled….?

Christmas is coming but will it happen? Our government is locking down the country from Thursday until December 2nd. This is after being advised by the scientists and doctors to bring in a lockdown about three or four weeks ago. No, they didn’t want to harm the economy, close schools, so they decided on a Tiered system, one, two and three… But that doesn’t seem to be working, hospital admissions and deaths are escalating again. So now it’s a lockdown. But then a minister has come out to say the lockdown might extend past four weeks. I don’t know where we will be at Christmas.

The whole thing seems to have been dealt with so indecisively, instead of keeping on top of things we were all given free rein, people travelled across boundaries.

I’m fed up, but I will continue to stick to the rules. I will be careful, I will wash my hands and I will continue to wear a mask, not just for me but also the people around me. Meanwhile the government needs to get its act together. Money is not more important than people.

No craft stalls

Craft stalls are not happening at the moment but I’m not that good at doing them, but I do miss them. Not only talking to fellow stall holders, but catching the eyes of people passing by and saying hi, hello, how are you?

I’m not good at selling, I get nervous, I don’t want to push. I don’t like being false and over friendly. I could start selling things on line, but they would have to be bespoke, I can’t make thousands of objects.

Currently I’m trying to come up with ideas for a 3d artefact for my college course. I have an idea that I might be able to make or get manufactured. But I need to think about sustainability and ecological issues. Got to do a presentation tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I wish

I wish that I was driving on this road, following it round the bends, storing by a stile at the side of the road and climbing over it, walking up the hill, maybe past a few grazing sheep, till at the top I would see mountains in the distance in one direction, and tree covered hills in another. If I looked in one direction hard enough I think I would see a distant view of the sea.

Where am I? I could be in Scotland, or some parts of England, but this winding road is in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 land of ancient people’s and dragons. Wales is in a lockdown for just over two weeks at the moment. I hope the people will all be safe. In the meantime I’m expecting where I am now to have another lockdown soon…. When will this end….

Feed the kids!

We are in a pandemic and many people in my country (England) are struggling to survive on lower incomes and less hours at work, despite being one of the richest countries in the world.

The situation is only made worse by our government refusing to help pay for free school meals during this coming week. They say they have given 63 million pounds to local councils to help pay for food. Conveniently, they don’t mention that they have been cutting benefits to people over the last ten years, and councils have shrunk by about 75%.

A footballer, Marcus Rashford, has raised the issue and many local businesses and food outlets are trying to help. This led one of the MPs to say it was good to see businesses had bounced back so much that they could now afford to help out!

I’m not saying which party are doing this. I just think that there needs to be more compassion in the world. Not just here but everywhere. We are in a bad situation. Don’t deliberately make it worse!

In our paper…

Spot the problem…??

Hmm…. Apologies for using this image, but it just points out that even people who should know the rules can make mistakes. I wonder why they are not wearing masks, and why they are so close? Are they related? Have they been sharing a ‘bubble’? Did the photographer usher them together to fit them in the photo? This is the leader of our local council, if she does not follow the rules why should her electorate? Or should we ignore her example and follow the rules? I think so!

Corona virus going up again.

I hope I’m allowed to share this? Just watching the news and the amount of covid 19 is going up again in England. A second wave? The problem is across the nation and its passing up from younger people to older people.

So why has it happened? Was it because children went back to school, because more people were allowed to meet up? Because work places and pubs and restaurants opened up? Our government just has not got a grip on this. If we had kept the lockdown longer and tried using masks sooner maybe we wouldn’t be here.

Oh I despair of the people running things, not the NHS, they are still working so hard. But the bumbling idiot in charge of it all! I don’t mind being locked down again, but the government is against that…… Crazy…

It’s your life too

I will wear it for you,

to keep you safe,

for old friends,

and new.

I will try and be safe,

wash my hands,

even wash my shopping.

I will keep my distance,

not hug,

not shake your hand.

I will cough into my elbow,

tap feet,

not touch.

I love you dearly,

I want all to be well,

all shall be well?

Are you well?

Keep safe.

X

I’m smiling with my eyes

Do you see me smiling,

behind my mask?

With my eyes.

Yes I’m smiling its true,

gently smiling not grinning.

I walk into shops,

I try to smile,

I want them to know,

I’m a friend.

The mask hides my smile,

I feel hidden.

I could be a robber,

a thief or a shoplifter.

If I wear gloves,

I feel guilty,

like I’m hiding.

So I smile,

even though it’s behind a mask.

Horse at Trentham

Copper tree, copper sculpture. Photo taken at Trentham Gardens last year. I think it looks Grecian, or Celtic. I like to collect interesting images and this was very striking. I think it’s on the far side of Trentham Gardens Lake? I haven’t been back since with all the problems with the virus and the way things are going it might be winter or later before I go back? Various parts of the country have gone back into increasing quarentine measures. The threat for them is fines of up to £10000 for breaking the rules. So I will remember things rather than going out much. I will try and stay safe, and watch small businesses fail. The world is beautiful and sad.

More lockdowns coming?

Life could be getting complicated again. The pesky virus is increasing. People keep getting together and meeting up in their homes. The result is that the R rate (reproduction rate) has gone from below 1 to between 1.1 and 1.5. New cases are climbing and the number of people admitted to hospital are increasing. Testing is not working, people are being sent miles away from home, or when the patient gets to a testing Station they are sometimes getting sent away! This is getting worrying. Again.
