Tongue out ready to lick, mucky chin, don’t know where he’s been. He came in after being out. It’s been raining and there’s mud about! Watchful eyes see what’s happening, he knows he’s loved, though he’s bought a smattering of rain and seeds in on his fur. So time to wash so he’s clean and dapper.
But when they take position on the settee at either end, they just make me laugh. They were like two lions sitting atop gate posts this morning. Watching what was happening, waiting for their breakfast. Matching black and white masks stoically patient.
Waiting to give my cat his medicine… My cat has had an abscess, probably swiped by another cat. He’s got antibiotic tablets, but he won’t take them crushed up with food. They are big and I have to quarter them then crush each bit up and give them to him twice a day.
I need my hubbys help. We wrap him up in a towel then I’ve dissolved the tablet in a bit of water and I’ve got a small pet syringe, so we have to use that to squirt the medication in his mouth. The trouble is I have to wear gloves as I’m allergic to the medicine. So it’s a bit of a fight. I’ve got a bite to my finger, but I can’t blame the cat for being scared.
We managed to give him his tablet this morning and now this evening, He’s not impressed, only another six days to go! He’s getting a nice treat afterwards. That seems to help a bit. He needs to take the full course.
I made myself a footstool out of a strong cardboard box, a pillow and a cat banket for softness. I’ve had my feet up on it for weeks, so the cats haven’t had the opportunity to use it. But I just went to get a drink and came back to find my little cat kneading it, (making biscuits/poddling). She’s now settled down to sleep! Cheeky!
One of the problems with sleeping on the sofa… It’s already occupied!
My feet are at this end and the cat thinks it’s great to get in the way. He likes to snuggle in the corner. I added the knitted reindeer for scale. He’s a big cat!
Trying to take a photo of my cat with her big eyes. She’s so beautiful, I wanted to show you all. But she doesn’t stay still unless she’s asleep.
She announces herself as she comes in with a series of miaows and mews, tail high waving in the air like a flag. Claws out she stands to sharpen them in my leg (get off!) this is her usual greeting. Then she rubs her head against my feet that are raised to reduce swelling at the moment. A meep and a purr, then up on my legs and backwards and forwards between the chair arms and my lap, all the while purring loudly.
Just keep still, let me take your photo, but no, after the purring and poddling (kneading with her paws), she’s off and down again, her fat little belly waddling off into the distance, flag tail waving goodbyes…..
Lino cut print. I completed an illustration course last year and I dabbled in printing for a couple of projects.
I was careful not to gouge holes in my fingers doing this, the tools to cut out the lino are extremely sharp. I ordered the kit over the Internet and it came with the tools, an inking tray, a roller, a hand tool to push the ink onto the paper and several cutting tools.
Of course I drew a cat, it’s my default setting. I tried to make it into a tabby cat although the print is black and white.
I turned round and then back, and there was a cat on the box that I’ve been using as a footrest. The box normally has a cushion balanced on top of it but sometimes I want to reposition my legs and it’s slipped so I need to rebalanced things, and voila the cat, without missing a beat commendered the box top. This is the other boy cat, not my friend from this morning. The other, other cat is usually found nesting on one of the cat tree platforms, which, because of my hubbys mad indoor gardening, is also used as a lemon tree and cumquat plant stand. Oh the joys of sharing a house.
