Hats,
You could wear a top hat
A bowler,
A floppy fedora,
A fez,
A straw hat.
All fit on your head
Or blow off in the wind,
Berets and boaters
Peaked and flat
Hats are head cosies,
Ear protectors
Sun shades
Hats are
Mad

We haven’t had much rain lately but today it bucketed down, rain was falling so heavily it overwhelmed the gutters of the house and was pouring so fast it filled up two empty milk bottles outside the front door. There was hail mixed in with it. Small lumps of ice hitting your windows and bouncing over my tomato plants outside.
Rain storms seem fiercer than the gentle rain of heaven from Portia’s speech in Shakespeareof yesteryear. Now we have cloudbursts, like a sponge being wrung out. All the water dumped like being under a waterfall.
I don’t know about “singing in the rain” more like swimming in the rain!

Today I went singing with a choir I am in called Loud Mouth Women. We were at a place called Audlem which is in Shropshire or Cheshire I think. We managed to avoid a couple of heavy showers and stayed dry. We sang twice. Once on the canal towpath and then outside a pub called the shroppie fly.
We sang a mixture of songs, from Polynesian to Zulu with a smattering of Latin and Hindi. We learn songs by repetition and also sang a Spanish song called ‘DeColores’. I do like our groups multinational ethos. We also sang ‘Nana was a Suffragette’ and ‘Do it now’ which is a green song about doing something about the Climate Emergency.
A very enjoyable day out at Audlem annual music festival.

Just a little painting of a green man with morning glory flowers. I thought it would be nice to add some bright colour to this. I chose morning glory because its a climbing plant that scrambles up and opens it’s flowers for a day. The flowers then wither to be replaced by new ones the next day.

Ouch… I’ve just finished putting mirror plates on the back of my paintings. You have to make holes in the back of canvas’s wooden supports and then screw them in place with two screws so they can be attached to gallery walls.
The problem is that the screws I have are small and have Phillips cross headed heads on them. The screws are made of harder metal than the screw driver and consequently the head of the screw driver had worn away. You can’t see this clearly on the photos though.
The the screw driver does not sit properly in the head of the screw, this means that they are really difficult to drive into the back of the canvas. I had to do this on 14 canvases, so 28 mirror plates and 56 screws. The wooden frames on canvases are not uniform, some are made with harder wood than others. In a couple of cases I had to use shorter screws because they would not screw all the way into the wood.
Now I have to list all the paintings so that I can take them down to the gallery on the morning.

I’ve worked myself to a standstill with this. I’m getting rather tired but I’ve got a lot more to do so I won’t stick around for long. Just having a breather.

I’ve finally finished the Hare painting. I’ve added the Harebells. I’m not sure about the background. I may play with it tomorrow, but enough for one day’s work. I’m also not sure about the proportions of its head…. I’m too tired to think.
Kittens from two years ago, popped up on my FB memories. They were so cute, they went to good homes and we kept their mom and her brother who I had taken in as rescue cats.
Black and white cats are lovely but I would have other colours, it’s just that there seem to be a preponderance of them round here.

I was standing under the warm rain when I heard a thud on the upper surface. I quickly got out of the rainier and looked outside at the up and downs, above them stood the geographical anomaly.
The anomaly was booming and throwing out hot black clouds. The flat world shook and buckled as the molten rocks ran down the steep sides of the anomaly.
Quickly putting on my leg jumper and foot coverings I ran to the four wheel cycle and drove it over to the science walls.
What’s happening? I asked the second leader. It’s exploding. Giving black clouds to the upper air. We think the hot rocks might get here.
Now I am a lost person, looking for an upper surface to cover my top body. No living heart to see after me.
I am uncoupled, I am not joined. Water rains from my seeing tubes.
I went out this morning to go to the Orme Art group. We were supposed to do limited pallette paintings, white, red, yellow ochre and black. I cheated and used some cerulean blue in the background. I want to add harebells, a beautiful bell shaped flower found in the countryside. The image is an amalgum of a photo from a magazine that I’d taken a photo of and a photo off the Internet. I’m not sure if I will finish this or any of the other paintings at the moment. Every time I feel better I do stuff, then I feel ill again. I guess I’m trying too hard. But I wanted some really strong paintings for the exhibition. I hope they look good. Anyway I’m having a rest for half an hour.
