Peeping out, watching the traffic, avoiding dog walkers, he sits and waits for us to get out of the car. Then he’s on the doorstep waiting to come in for his tea.
My other cats have their habits too, my little queen stretches up and claws my knee every time she says hello. I always say ouch, but she’s not bothered. She won’t stop. Just a friendly miew…
The other Tom likes me to Stoke his head, all the way down his back to his tail, as I reach the end his head comes back up again for the next sweep of my hand, over and over, 20 or 30 times…
The three of them are so loving. I enjoy their company. X

The Queen is lying in state in Westminster Hall with Guards at each corner of the dias where her coffin sits draped in the Royal standard. She has been there since Thursday and the public are filing past in solemn mourning. A queue up to five miles long as been moving slowly through London while people wait to view the Monarch. The start of the queue was suspended for a while as there were too many people joining it. At one stage they were saying it would take twenty two hours to reach Westminster Hall. It is continuing to move night and day, and will run until the last people are allowed to view the lying in state at six thirty am on Monday 19th September. After that the queue will be closed and will have to disperse because the State Funeral will take place. Such a sad and solemn occasion.

Just a simple ink pen sketch of Queen Elizabeth II. I tried drawing her in one of her colourful outfits but it looked nothing like her. I should have put the eighth of September on it but I only drew it today.

The death of Queen Elizabeth II has been announced this evening. She died peacefully this afternoon at Balmoral in Scotland aged 96.

Jubilation and celebrations continue throughout the land. Not everyone is a royalist, but I think 70 as head of state is quite important. I don’t have any bunting or flags up. I do think that some of the money given to the crown should be used to support the poorest in society. Trickle down, the idea that giving to the rich let’s money get down to the poorest doesn’t work. People with money put extra money in the bank. People with no money will spend any extra, probably locally because they can’t afford to go anywhere else.
So congratulations ma’am, enjoy your celebration. But please government, try and be a bit kinder to the poorest in society, don’t keep overlooking them.

Penkhull village in Stoke on Trent is holding a scarecrow contest for the Queens Platinum Jubilee. Several people around the village and surrounding streets have created celebratory Scarecrows.
I think there is a prize for the best one and there is a leaflet with a map of the trail. I want to find them! This is British eccentricity!

#bandofsketchers prompt today is ‘spine’
I trained as a radiographer so I almost drew a spine from one of my old textbooks. But then I watched Star trek, and remembered the Borg Queen in one of the films, First Contact, so I sketched her.

Sweet and cheeky
She sits atop her post
Paws and claws
Sitting watching
The birds outside
Feed on the feeders
On the fence.
She stays inside
And is the queen
Of all she
Surveys.
