A couple of splodges of black ink on a post it note inspired this fly doodle. Just waiting for my PC to sort itself out, I haven’t switched it on for a while and it’s playing up… So a fly in the ointment?.. Maybe

New paintings and regular art updates.

These are another couple of pages from my book, the story is on the right embedded in my photoshop drawing. The pattern on the left is a photo of arrow shaped post-it notes and multi coloured foil circles glued together to represent dragon scales. I used a website called Blurb to create a single copy of the book. It even has an ISBN number!

Post it notes and plastic metallic colour discs. Thought about a pattern that I could make, using arrow shaped post it notes I decided to place the pointed bits over the discs. Have a glue stick, water soluble, so I glued each individual piece of paper and plastic… It took two hours! By the time I’d done it (after accidentally dropping the discs and the glue stick on the floor) my fingers were covered in a sticky gluey mess. Thank goodness it’s soluble!

I like using post it notes and I saw these arrow shaped ones in the supermarket. I am going to use them in a project for my illustration course. It’s based on homelessness and I’m trying to show time going backwards to when people were safe and happy. I did see them as beach huts, but that doesn’t fit with what I’m using them for.
Every year thousands of people lose their homes for various reasons. They coukd be causing trouble. Or they might not be able to afford their rent, or have lost their jobs, been bereaved, had benefits cut or have mental health problems.
There are so many reasons for homelessness and I think it needs explanation. To many times homeless people are seen as causing their own problems instead of not always being responsible for them.
Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was flower. I decided to do a collage of a flower… I was going to draw a hanging basket but they got bashed in the hail from a thunderstorm. So I decided to create something from post it notes and coloured paper. Also holographic paper and black calligraphy pen.

Transformed a drawing of a torch into a boat by covering over a lot of it with pink and green paper, bits of black monoprint and some black ink and green spray ink. Playing with obscuring the image to create something new.

Abstract of seed pods, made with spray ink, off cuts of post-it notes, bits of black monoprint and a fine line pen.
I made this during our singing class tonight, it’s just a bit of fun. I’m playing with different ideas and the circles of monoprint looked like blueberries or seed pods. The coloured bits of paper are there to add highlights in pinks, orange, and yellow. I like the chaotic complexity of it.

Today’s college workshop, we had to create an image from random bits of things we had around us. I made a motorbike with mine! Can you see it?
Post it notes and bits of monoprinted paper, and a bit of maroon tissue paper as a bit of foliage. Is that a small white wheel at the front or a square orange wheel? Green handlebars, pink headlight. Black and white seat.
Today’s band of sketchers prompt is warning… So I drew something but it was wrong the traffic lights are in the middle of the road. .. So I turned it into another cartoon. Warning! Traffic light in wrong place! A bit bonkers today I know… Made with post it notes and felt pen.
