Sisters cat

Sisters cat is so neat,

sisters cat is so sweet,

Sisters cat has cheerful purrs,

Sisters cat has kneading paws,

Sisters cat is still a kitten,

sister’s cat chases a mitten….

Sisters cat is all black,

Sisters cat is called Jack.

Sisters cat chases his tail,

Sisters cat, he likes gales.

When purring, pawing, kitten plays

You see him running through the days,

Now sisters cat is getting older,

And as the year will soon get colder,

On sister’s chair Jack cat will sleep,

Warm and snug, then wake and leap,

Down to the hearth to drink and eat.

Then off outside his friends will meet.

Hmm I didn’t know how to finish that…Sisters cat is actually female, but Jack sounds better. Anyway she is sweet and neat and purrs !

Howl

image_2018-08-20_175043

Howling against the wind,

The wolf sits atop the mountain.

Moon shines down on glistening snow.

Quelling fear I walk on,

In darkness amid the trees.

Wolves leap along the track,

Their green eyed glow, reflected by my torch,

Stay to one side of me

Fearful of the stranger in their realm.

Howl back at the moon,

Step quiet in the dark,

Leave fear behind in the old town,

Come out and see the shining stars

And howl against the dark.

I dont live in a country with wolves, but a lot of the stories about them attacking are apparently mythical. However I would not want to be bitten by one, they could carry diseases like rabies. Wolves are powerful predators, they are pack animals and follow a dominant male and female pair. I would love to see a real one in the wild, but not in captivity. I saw the pelt of one at the weekend at a Saxon reinactment. I hope it was old and historic and not a recent purchase.

Howling against the dark and wind feels like how it would be, icy cold, your breath turning into ice crystals. The feeling of wide spaces and high hills. Freedom, Beauty, life.

Iterations

Take a drawing, a few dots on a page and turn it and multiply it, change the colour balance, then use another tool to swirl it, crop a shape from it, then place each next to each other to get a final picture.

These are iterations, each one a slight change,  adding to the complexity of the images. Sometimes multiplying can loose detail as the patterns start to merge because the pattern shrinks each time, which is why I like to change the colours and the hues of the drawings.

I don’t have a favourite

I just like the way things evolve.

I copy you,

And change you,

Multiply and stretch you,

Your face changes slowly,

Gives each picture a twist,

A new flavour,

Changing fruit to jam,

Seed to flower,

Growing each time,

Like bacteria, multiplying,

Mutating,

Evolving. ….

Money makes the world go around?

IMG_20180817_182800_335

Thats what they say..

You can hear it today,

Money makes the world go around,

That’s what they found,

When people have money,

Life is more sunny.

When people are poor,

Dont darken my door..?

How can it be right,

Billionaires have might,

When there is no dosh (money)

No one gets nosh (food).

80 people have more money,

Than half the world’s population, funny…

While the world sits in debt,

Rich men still cast their net,

For gold and jewels and folding stuff…

When will they say they have enough….

So Money only makes things fun

If you have it, by the ton!

Knitted Jupiter, well not really..

IMG_20180812_232137_040

I wanted to paint Jupiter a couple of years ago, but my technique with acrylics does not quite work. I think I don’t blend colours as well as I could, still I had a go…..to me thus almost looks knitted…

What would Jupiter think if he was an ancient God?

You knitted me? That can’t be right,

I am great Jupiter, not a wooly jumper?

In all my days of pomp and might,

I was never treated rougher.

My power is great, my influence strong,

I never wore a cardie…

My orbit is extremely long,

And I am very hardy.

My storms last centuries you know,

They do not soon unravel,

So take your woollen paint and go,

As I through space do travel!

Two faces, two sides

IMG_20180814_002954_627

There are always two sides to a story,

one person’s love is another’s hate..

What comes between is defeat or glory

Which side you are on reveals your fate.

Talk to each other and share your troubles,

Never think fighting is better than speech,

Remember without it all anger bubbles.

Give Peace a chance is what we should teach.

Never hurt feelings if you can help it.

Hurt will run deep and ruin all love.

Be caring and helpful if you can make it,

Follow the symbol of peace, the dove.

I guess I’m an idealist, but in this age of rage between religions, alt right and far left, I still think diplomacy is important. We see more things on tv and the internet now than we could ever have seen in the past, when news from around a country, or across the world might have taken days or even weeks to reach us, and would only be noted if you had the money to buy a paper.

We  go into rages about things, clicking on links and signing petitions. Somehow we all have panic buttons that we constantly press. Our stress levels and hormones are at heightened levels. Like the cold war we are prompted to react to every threat, every thought that might be a challenge to our status.

Instead of wild worries about things we have no control over I do think sitting down and talking things through is a better way of solving things. We all have bogey men, enemies, people that are not our favourites. But to turn them into absolute foes, to become bigoted against them is wrong.

Perhaps we should take the chance of thinking, negotiating, trying to understand the other point of view occasionally instead of being in continuous rivalry.

The world is a smaller place than in the past, resources are finite, humanity’s population is continuing to grow. Somehow we need to grow up and talk like adults instead of squabbling like children?

Abstracting Angles

Take a picture and twist it,

Mix it,

Turn it round and bend it,

Don’t mend it.

Shake it up,

Blend it.

Shape that space,

No disgrace to fix it.

Give it Grace,

Make a place,

New is ace.

Change its face.

There’s no race,

Just keep up your pace.

Spin that pic,

Twin that pic,

Win that pic.

Love that pic.

That pic is sick!

What inspires you?

20171006_233344

Shapes, colours, cats,

Plants, horses, hats,

Fish, glass, clay,

Books, art, day,

Night, stars, planets,

Water, sea, trumpets.

And breathe….

Heart, Head, sky,

Dance, song, joy,

Reading, writing, play,

Sewing, knitting, yay!

Green, red, blue,

Yellow, Orange too…

Purple, green and mauve,

Silver, copper and gold.

And breathe, just breathe….

So much is inspiring,

Medicine, painting, lightening

So much to rejoice in,

Happiness is enticing.

What else can I say?

Just “may you enjoy your day”!

Cats and boxes

Apologies for my lack of skill in rhyming…..But here is just something I had to write when I saw these two! I am trying not to use plastic bags, so sometimes get shopping in cardboard boxes.  My tom cat has decided  one is his. So what happens when you bring in a new one? A confusion  of cats….

Maybe cats and cupboards?

A confusion of cats,

Sits in a box,

Shrodinger puzzle….

Which box to choose?

Cat on a cupboard ,

Cat sitting up high.

One cat – both boxes,

The other has none.

Share or not share?

Cats have ideas,

Sure of their wills,

always delightful,

and bonkers

Still!

Snow

IMG_20180801_223026_651something cool on a hot evening…

❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄

Snow

Falling ice in slivers,

Mass of shakes and shivers.

The cold, blue white, icicle,

Rain turned soft, showy, beautiful.

All flakes are different they say,

None have the same symmetry. ..

Hexagonal, six sided

Wind and air embroidered.

Vast blizzard made of tiny stars devine

of silvered sheen, your shape defined.

Snow.

Cold.

White.

Feathered.

Chilling…..
