Cucumber plant

dsc_1999-3.jpgthis baby cucumber plant I’ve got growing on the kitchen windowsill seems to be tickling the cast iron cats ear! It’s been inside because it’s been too cold to plant it out. It’s barely had any water and yet it’s putting out flowers. The courgette plants that I had outside have been ravaged by slugs, but thus little beauty will have to go out before the kitchen resembles the little shop of horrors.

I like this image, the shadow of the wind-chime in the window is cast on the wall on the right hand side, and the slightly angry cat balances it up. Yes.. I’m thinking of painting it. All the other plants contrast with it. Taken at 2.30am so the dark windows and reflections would be a challenge. I have just the right long thin canvas for it……

I hope it survives – I had to use washing up liquid on the Pepper plant just a bit further along the windowledge today as it was covered in aphids and I won’t use pesticides. Right enough writing x

Petals

Untitled48_001

Just a simple ArtRage oils app drawing…..

I’m mesmerised by colours,

by petals shimmering in the breeze.

Water goes deep in the earth

and  shapes the roots

raises a stem,

Leaves unfurl

and a flower opens

petals pink and bright.

Birds and bees sip the nectar,

pollen mixes and seeds set.

Now the flower fades

But next year

another flower will bloom.

White flowers

I’m excited! One of the little citrus plants my partner bought a few weeks ago has produced flowers.  We knew it could generate fruit as it has already got some. But I wasn’t expecting it to flower. As soon as I can I want to put it outside in the sun, we are getting a summerhouse so it can go in there and stay walm. At the moment it’s next to a sunny windowledge but I want the flowers to be pollenated.

Does anyone have any knowledge about keeping citrus? We did grow a plant from a pip once. It grew to 2 foot high but only ever had leaves and eventually died. Thanks in advance for any info.

A scrambling, ground cover plant with pointed shiny green leaves and striking purple flowers. They have five petals that seem to spiral down to the pentagram at the centre. I think you can also get white and also blue versions with variegated leaves.

We just got this plant for the garden where I’m hoping it will take over from the ivy that is covering a large section of ground.

Orchid

Orchid I see you flying,                                                                         Up through Sun and space                                                                     growing tall and twisting,                                                                     bricks and tiles supporting. ..

I don’t know why I like making these pictures from ordinary photos. I feel like they are alien views of life. If you had faceted eyes you may see things like this. In fact human and animal eyes project an image upside down on your retina. The brain has to turn it the right way up. The same thing happens with a telescope, the image you look at is upside down, but how many people look through a telescope?

The orchid is new, its in our kitchen, but the cat knocked it off the cupboard and although I have put it back in its container its looking a bit poorly. I think its too cold.. I’ve got some new orchid medium so I’m going to re pot it.
