Woody update…

_20191127_140036

Woody/Smudge nine years old and abandoned by his owners has been sleeping snug in our summerhouse. But he’s been turfed out by a big grey tabby which may also be a stray. I’ve put together a box with a towel and put it in a big bag for life. Put the next to the table he is hiding under. I don’t want him to sleep outside so we are going to get a rabbit hutch and straw bales in the morning. Also propped the shed door open for more shelter. What he needs is a home. He’s advertised on Cats protection. I’m hoping he gets a new home soon x.

Dolls house on the stairs

dsc_2377.jpg

Dolls house on the stairs, guarding the rooms above. Just a wooden box basically, denying access.

Now someone approaches, but a draft seems to blow from the painted doors, like someone breathing out.

A step up, high heels clunk on the wood. Impatient to pass, the figure still hesitates. Then, lights illuminate the windows in the dolls house!

She steps  back, trips, and falls on her bottom. She stands and looks up at the house, now flames are licking up the walls across the steps and up the stairwell.. A moaning starts..

Back in the office, Val watches the CCTV. That will stop you seeing my husband! She chuckles gleefully.

Among tiny paintings sold this weekend…

Three bees,

Two angels,

Two doves of peace,

Which makes me think, people do care about nature and climate change, people care about loving one another, and people care about peace.

The most interesting thing? They were mainly children who seemed to like them. Maybe having a symbolic image gives some comfort in these strange days.

I made sure I didn’t charge more than what it cost to make them. Had a chat this evening with my hubby. I know I really don’t do this for money, more to encourage people to take up art. If you can have the opportunity to do something creative, Take It! This world needs more creativity and thinking outside the box.

Dog

DSC_2376

This beautiful boy Collie dog came into the gallery today. I asked for permission to take his photo, I may use it to do a painting of him. He was very lively, we gave him some treats and soon he was shaking paws and rolling over to have his tummy tickled. I loved his fox colour. I think it’s called red?

He was a little nervous with all the noise and chatter around him, but soon calmed down.

Today was fun

Long day again, but it was good to see new people, a lot of the purchases of my tiny paintings were children asking their parents to buy them pictures of angels and snowmen that I’d done.

There were printing, stamp designs for Christmas paper, and Christmas ornament making workshops at the waiting room gallery. Everyone seemed to have fun.

There was also Walnut cake, Lemon drizzle cake and scones to delight the customers.

Yes, all in all, a good weekend.

Forgot my phone

What a long day, and when I got to the Waiting room gallery for the craft fair today, I realised I’d left my phone at home.

Not good when you like to blog. There were beautiful frosty images of hoar frost on leaves, I could not photograph. Lots of ornaments and cards made by people visiting the free print and crafting workshops. These were very successful and a lot of people enjoyed the experience.

I just tried to blog about it, but I’m so tired I’m falling asleep as I type. I would write more but can’t keep my eyes open.

I typed two or three paragraphs that have disappeared because I just hit the delete key…. Argh!

Muraling again…

I did more to the mural today, climbing up and down some steps to get up to the top of it. I’m tired but happy with it so far. I’ve toned down some purple I’d added to it and made it more grey. This was because I was trying to add colour to it but was a bit overwhelming. Once I’ve finished blocking in the background I will add reeds and leaves and other details. I’ve got some iridescent white which I’m going to use to add more sparkle to it. Once it’s finished it’s going to have a glaze over it to protect it.

May get it finished by next week.

At Etruria Artists this morning.

Four of us visited the Warehouse at Etruria today, its by the summit lock 40 on the Trent and Mersey canal, near Etruria Industrial museum, Stoke-on-Trent.

The subject was Easter Island heads, and I decided to try and work out how to slab build it, which is why I did a drawing of it first. Then because we decided to do smaller statues we decided to carve the clay instead. The results are shown in the middle pictures. Finally I talked to my friend Robert, who is a Potter and leader of the group. He explained that we should have glued bits on with slip if we wanted the pieces firing.

The final photo is one of my hubby’s drawings in response to the ideas. I liked what he was doing and took a photo. He explained he was working on ideas from Barbara Hepworth.

Cheese please?

sketch-1574877271679

Firstly, there are two of us, me and my hubby, middle aged, we need to lose weight, not eat as much food.

But hubby went shopping today, shopping for fruit? Yes, mince pies? Yes.

A two pound block of cheddar… A TWO POUND BLOCK OF CHEDDAR? Why? I need to cut my cholesterol, not raise it and apart from cheese on toast and cheese sandwiches, or a bit grated onto pasta, where can we use so much? Answer, hubby will chop it up and eat it in chunks. Any suggestions? Cheese and curry, fish and cheese?

The hunt is on for new owners.

DSC_0534

This is Woody, formerly known as Smudge. He has apparently been abandoned by his owners. It turns out he us nine years old, and he’s been living in our summerhouse for a few months. He’s a healthy cat and loving. We would take him in but our cats live indoors ( they are rescue cats and won’t let me take them to the vets for inoculation.) So they have to stay in, and he stays out. But it’s getting towards winter. I think he needs to be a single cat, and to be allowed freedom to come and go. But us a warm hearth too much to ask? Cats protection are putting out an appeal soon to try and find someone to take him in and give him the love he deserves. I think he will need attention to get him back with humans, but he likes to be loved and sits on your lap to be stroked.

Apparently black and white cats are not popular, which is strange as all the cats we have had, except one, have been cute black and white.
