There’s not enough space
I can’t get past!
I have to hop over the hose
Skip over the empty pots
Jump into the back door
When I’ve watered it all.
I’m watching the Olympics
Thinking could this be
A new green event?
New paintings and regular art updates.

In the Olympics tonight Andy Murray and his partner Dan Evans were up against an American duo in the Quarter finals of the men’s doubles tennis competition.
Having won through against adversity in the previous two matches (winning after 5 match points against them and 2 match points in the following game) Murray and Edwards came through a five, two deficit in the second set to win two games back. Sadly though, and despite an almost miraculous comeback they eventually lost.
Andy Murray has been playing for years. He won the men’s singles finals at Wimbledon three times and has also previously been Olympic champion too. I think he is 37. Recently he has had back surgery and has a prosthetic hip. He had physical problems to overcome over most of his career. Perhaps this is the right time for him to finish his tennis career. But he will be sorely missed.

She wasn’t going to watch the Olympics in Paris, it was on the TV but she knew if she watched her countries athletes they would lose.
In the last games she had watched assiduously and each and every player had come to grief. The swimmer hit her head on the wall as she tried to tumble turn. The cyclist had a puncture, the gymnast got tangled up in the rings. No she could not watch.
But then, the first days results were on the news. There were mishaps galore. Maybe it wasn’t her mental influence that was causing disasters? She realised she should watch, and enjoy. She didn’t realise that it was an alien who had infiltrated her countries team. Until he left they were jinxed. He was investigating the emotion despair and this was merely a scientific experiment for him.
What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

Watching gymnastics over the years reminds me of Olga Korbut and Nadia Comaneci with their virtually perfect performances at the Olympics. Oh how I wished I could twist and turn my body like them! My abilities were more along the lines of running and cycling. But I always to watched them on TV and I have continued to follow the gymnastics ever since.
It’s not just the female gymnasts, the men are brilliant too. The competitions are different, with apparatus based on the physiques of the male and female body. Balance, poise, strength and flexibility all are important to these athletes.
Looking forward to Paris 2024.

What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?
I actually like a lot of the sports in the Olympics, and that includes some of the newer sports such as mountain biking and climbing. But I guess my favourites are track and field events (including para athletics). I think that’s because I grew up watching people like Mary Peters and Sebastian Coe among others. So often you would see people beating World and Olympic records. My only regret was when they may have been found to be cheating. Using drugs to enhance their performances. Also I think more modern athletics has too much hype. I know the athletes need to fund their careers, but I liked the simpler times. One of my favourite films is Chariots of Fire. Where athletes were far more moral and honest than some of them appear to be now, or maybe that’s just my perception?

Been staying up to late to watch the Olympics. I went to bed about 4am, but woke up at about 8amso I’m shattered. What was I watching? The semifinals of the mens 10 meter diving. I could have got up at 7am to watch the final, but I was still asleep. I’m just glad they are only on every four (or five) years. Considering it almost didn’t go ahead, I think the Japanese have done a marvellous job as hosts. I just hope people stay safe an the covid levels reduce. The Paralympics are about to start. I wish all the competitors a great games.

Watching Sky Portrait artist of the year. I couldn’t find pictures of all the sitters so decided to draw Catherine Grainger from a photo on the Web, ten minute sketch.
I want to watch the programme so leaving it at this. I might do another one later.

It’s not often that you find a cycling scalextric set for sale for a tenner, and it works. From a local charity shop. After a bit of messing about with the pickups underneath the model cyclists, we were flying round the velodrome, racing round the backed curves and barging each other in the little built in narrow sections. I flew off into the crowd and hubby fell off sideways onto the blue track around the base of the racing surface. It was fun, I actually smiled! Plus the cat found it interesting, her head was going side to side as she watched the toy cyclists.
It bought back memories of Sir Chris Hoy at the London Olympics, and all the different sorts of races cyclists do, devil take the hind most, different numbers of laps, pursuit and other races, (OK I cant remember the names). They race fixed gear bikes with no brakes on banked track. I had a go once. I could not get onto the banking on my old steel bike. I was much happier watching the races!
