Possibly a Tardis.

What tattoo do you want and where would you put it?

My digital drawing of David Tennant as Dr Who

I love Dr Who but there have been many actors who have played Dr Who and although I have my favourites I think I would have a picture of the Tardis whirling through space and time. It’s an iconic piece of science fiction history. I’d have a tattoo on my ankle. But it would have to be very small as I don’t like the idea of pain!

Cats

Dogs or cats?

Cats are very loving, except when they give you the cold shoulder! They are aloof but also demanding. They can be funny.

One advantage, you don’t have to take them for a walk, just install a catflap!

They can be cheeky, friendly, mad, crazy, and run about so fast they are like miniature cheetahs!

They like company, and will try and get your attention when you least expect it. Walking over your keyboard and flopping down just  as you get to that important clause in the contract you were writing.

By the way I still like dogs, but I’ve grown up with cats and I love them.

Yes!

Do you vote in political elections?

I’ve voted in every election I could. The first time I voted following my families choice, I was young and I hadn’t really thought through my voting intentions, we had always voted one way so I followed suit.

Then I left home, my situation changed. Many conversations followed and I realised I no longer agreed with my family. Much to their surprise I changed allegance. Why? The reality of life was not as I’d imagined it as a child.

I think the important thing to do when voting is to really consider what’s on offer, not just to you, but to your neighbours and friends. Bad policies should not be selected. That means any party that is not bothered about the needs of the population should be discarded. Perhaps we could have more accurate measurement of whether parties have kept their promises?

As a woman I’m proud to vote. I remember all the women 100 years ago who fought for women’s suffrage. If you can find the song on the Internet have a listen to the song “Nana was a Sufferagette”. I think it gives a good idea of how I feel.

New prime minister (PM)

Our PM is finishing tomorrow. Another PM will replace him. He or she (probably she) is being chosen by 160,000 Conservative party members not the British electorate. We might have a general election until next year or the year after. Our old PM has been found to have lied and broken laws. His popularity meant his party got an 80 seat majority in the 2019 election and are changing electoral boundaries to make it difficult to defeat them. It also seems Scottish voters may try and go for independence making it virtually impossible to get the Conservative government out of power.

I think of our PM as a Trump mini-me. He even thinks he can get back in power! The new PM will probably be Liz Truss. She does not seem to know what she is doing. It seems the rich and entitled rule. The rest suffer.

Cartoon I did last year of our PM as a schoolboy, I was protesting the lack of support from his government of the arts.

Things that go bump..

In the night…

Funny how monsters always come out of the dark. They are huge, spikey, or furry, look like giant animals or insects. With mouthparts from squids or tapeworms, and massive claws.

In stories, someone brave, normally male, but more frequently female these days, stands up against the monster and wins the day. Usually after recovering from several setbacks, and getting injured in the final fight.

So why, when it comes to it, are we fighting a tiny virus? Not zombies. And it’s happening in daylight, morning, evening and night. A virus far tinier than bacteria. Basically some RNA (ribo nucleic acid) wrapped in a coating. It invades your cells and uses them to replicate. The disease happens because your body fights back and damages the bodies cells. Touching infected surfaces and then your mouth or nose infects you.

So a tiny virus, a giant monster. I know which one I’d rather fight. See you down by the woods tonight.

I can’t “sell” myself

IMG_20181006_124113_764.jpg

I just found out I haven’t been successful in another one of my applications to get my art seen. I just don’t think I know how to sell myself. I suppose each time I get knocked back at least I’m less disappointed. If people don’t like what I do that is not my fault or theirs x. It’s just a case of taste. I’m not going to let it get to me  I shall just try harder next time and try and do better research. Being an artist is not easy, but it’s good to be creative. I won’t give up.
