Quick sketch : My dusty old glass chess set. Not very well drawn, I’m not sure if I will play with it or put it back away under the cupboard. Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was ‘Game’.
Pencil and black fine liner pen. In a small A6 sketchpad.
New paintings and regular art updates.

Birthday present I got on Sunday off a friend who knows I love cats. Gold acrylic paint and fine black ink liner pen. The prompt for this Thursday was a gift I received. #bandofsketchers

I’m just catching up this week for #bandofsketchers so here’s my speckled drawing. Our outdoor cat. He’s actually black and white but I’ve drawn him in a pointellist way. I was interested in how the speckles changed direction as I drew…

#bandofsketchers prompt for Sunday was gate or stile.
I did a coloured drawing of this on the computer but when I tried to save it the computer crashed! Anyway this is a black and white drawing of a broken gate to a field. It was imagined because I couldn’t find a thing that was nice on the computer.
I wonder if the digital drawing I did is saved somewhere on my old PC. Anyway this is the best I can do.

Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was ‘take a break’ so I chose to draw this image from the front of the 2021 National Trust Guidebook. It’d just drawn in coloured pencil, charcoal pencil and fine liner black ink pen.
I need a break! So I would take it at Bodnant garden near Llandudno in Wales. It’s a National Trust garden. A beautiful place which drops into a wooded valley and is surrounded by the Welsh hills and mountains. We are missing the laburnum walk that will be in flower now. I hope to go there soon.

Watercolour with Arteza Metallic paints for the #bandofsketchers prompt for Tuesday ‘sunlight,’. A holly leaf caught in the sunshine. The painting was done from a photo, I painted it straight away without drawing it out first.
I need to do some gardening at the moment, the nettles are taking over so I need to cut them back a bit. They are good for butterfly π caterpillars but if they sting you as you walk past theyΒ do need attention. The Holly bushes are a little overgrown too. It’s turning into a bit of a mammoth task, and I’m a bit nervous of taking it on!

Playing with my old photoshop app. It’s a few years old but I can’t afford a new version. The first corner was the drawing, then I used different filters and rotated the images to make this pattern. It could be a vine or a thorny rose. This was for the #bandofsketchers prompt ‘twisted’ for Sunday.
I went a bit mad for this, today’s #bandofsketchers prompt dancer/music. Made a drawing in metallic watercolours of a ballet dancer, I didn’t base it on a particular pose. When it was finished I wasn’t happy so I drew over it, then changed it in the photo app on my phone . I’m including all three versions I saved.

Something to make me happy, aqualegia flowers. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was happy. They are also called Colombine or Grannies bonnets.
Ours come out in May. They hibridize and come in many forms and colours, with double or single flowers, pale yellow, pinks, reds, blues and purples. Some of them are single colours and others are bi colour. When the flowers fade and the seed pods ripen I collect the seed and scatter it all over the garden so they come up the following year.

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was Space. It is a favourite subject. I love the Sky at Night Programme on the BBC. I’ve tried to paint the Whirlpool galaxy, using Arteza metallic watercolours and some black and white acrylic. A bit splodgy but the detail on the photo was overwhelming.
