I see butterflies….?

I carried on drawing circles because I wanted to cover the page. Then I tried mirroring the image into four sections and suddenly I could see a couple of butterflies. (I think). It could also see the hollows of bones. I think these are called lacuna or lacunae?

I also think of the speech from Macbeth which goes ‘hubble bubble toil and trouble….’. Or honeycomb toffee that crunches when you eat it. Patterns are fun!

Drawing bubbles

Drawing a simple pattern, a series of circles. Somehow this is relaxing, a meditation and concentration. I might cover the whole page with this.

It was based on watching a tap drip into a bowl of water that had a small amount of detergent in. The drips created tiny bubbles that gradually built up into a single layer.

I could try adding ripples on the water surface. But I’m not sure I want to. I will try and think about it.

Drawing to scale

Oh I wish I’d done technical drawing at school. I’d know how to draw perfect circles and how to indicate cross sections. Yes I can draw around things, like this watch, but the line is very wobbly, then I wanted to draw an inner circle, but again its approximately a circle….. I’m a bit disappointed to be honest. I must find out if there is a particular template I can buy. If I’m going to learn, I need the right equipment. Another thing I need to invest in, and maybe an illustrated guide to technical drawing?

Circles, today’s USK prompt.

_20200611_142312

I just had to find circles to draw  for today’s Stoke on Trent urban sketchers challenge. I hope ellipses count as tipped up circles. In that case there are rings, a mug, a dream catcher and a mobile in this sketch… If not I guess the dream catcher and mobile in the window count. Black ink on cartridge paper.  Next drawing due Sunday I think….
