My plans were scuppered this weekend. The car isn’t outside the house but at the garage. It went in for one thing but something else broke so they are waiting for a part. Meanwhile I can’t go to the places I want to get to.
Grainy, blurry photo of my female cat. I had a printmaking kit delivered and I’ve just taken it out of the box so I left it there for the cats. It’s dark in here as I’m saving electricity and just have a couple of lamps on. I don’t need much light.
She’s a beautiful, delightful cat, mother of at least four kittens that we rehomed. She was pregnant when we took her in as a rescue cat but we got her spayed and she has lots of fun now. Her latest trick now is chasing my dressing gown belt. I’ll be walking through the kitchen and have to stop because she’s caught it with her claws!
My friend is offering a beautiful print for sale and as a limited edition (not the image here, it has similar colours). I would love it, and it’s at a fair price for an artist to charge. But all I could think was, car tax and other bills are due in January. I have to realise I cannot afford it. Now I feel guilty for just enquiring.
I realise I don’t charge enough for my art. I have this strange idea that I want my art to go to a good home, so I undersell, swap art, or offer ways people can pay in installments. But I’m also doing other artists a disservice. If I charge less, how can they charge more? I think it might be my upbringing. Having a belief in myself? I guess it’s just how I am.
I just went out to go to choir practice. I happened to look at one of the tyres and realised it looked odd. It was flat. It had gone down overnight. I think I will have to get it down to the garage to get it checked (I’ve not had it for long). I hope it’s something that can be fixed. I have some tyre weld but when you use that it can be very messy when you replace the tyre later. I hope it will be OK tomorrow.
First issue 99 pence. Then 109 more issues at £9.99! That’s £1089.90 for a hand built model.. That you have to build yourself! It may be a special car, but is it worth over £1000 and two years of your life? There must be some people that build and buy them, otherwise they would not be advertised. I guess people who love model trains might like them too. I didn’t make a note of the type of car. I was just amazed at the cost and number of issues.
Walked about 14000 steps. We were walking along the Trent and Mersey canal to a pub at Etruria and back. We were slightly late setting off to come back home and it was getting very dark so we came off the canal and went along a main road. Still it was a good walk, we had a small meal, so overall it was enjoyable. X
Even cats have to have vaccine booster shots. It was probably the hottest day this year and my two cats had got to go to the vets. Both had been out all day. They hate pet carriers so I got the female in a closed bag and took her to the vets. They inoculated her but warned me to get her home straight away as she was overheating in the bag.
I got home and she ran upstairs and flopped so I put her some cool water near her if she wanted a drink.
Then we explored the garden, where the boy cat was lying under a bush. We’d put a bag of frozen peas in the bag to make sure it was cooler. Back to the vets. They were happy that the second cat wasn’t overheating. We got home and let the boy out of the bag, he sprang out, but as you can see him flopped on the carpet. He has now gone back outside. X
Walked around our local streets on today’s walk and saw these massive potholes! It looks like they are due to be filled in but how on earth did they get this big in the first place?
I’ve been watching video of the latest Mars exploration and these look bigger than some of the craters there!
If you hit one of these at normal speed I think that you would damage your suspension in a car, and it could make a bike wheel collapse. Talk about an accident waiting to happen.
I know these are nothing in the scheme of things, just a bit surprising.
I only did a short walk of two and a half miles today. But in my defence my knees and feet are sore and I still walked uphill. I’m on day 33 of my #100daywalkingchallenge, basically about a third of the way through it. I’ve learnt that five miles is about my limit at the moment. Going uphill is somehow easier on my knees than walking downhill. I’ve managed to jog slightly. I like watching the world change as the days lengthen (but are getting colder again). That it’s easier to do two short walks than one long one. And that I can manage without travelling miles in the car as long as I get out and about (oh, and with the car door playing up, so I can’t always unlock it from the outside, it’s a good job I can walk!)
Walking through a railway arch we saw this 1950’s GMC truck. So I decided to have a go at painting it tonight in my black cartridge paper sketchbook. Used Windsor and Newton Watercolours and Arteza metallic watercolours.
