Five portraits, one five minutes and the other four are ten minute ones. Black calligraphy pen on cartridge paper. The lighting isn’t good so the paper looks a bit grey. People provided objects to add to the portraits. I really enjoy these sessions.
New paintings and regular art updates.

It’s 5.50am and I couldn’t sleep so I drew my cutlery basket and surroundings.. Then I realised the ink from the calligraphy pen isn’t waterproof so did a water wash over it…
#bandofsketchers drawing prompt was basket.

I was watching a programme on Paula Rego on BBC four last night, tried drawing her, I think I got a likeness…
She is a Portugese artist who has such a varied style of art. Full of abstraction, passion, exuberance, but also figurative, sad, emotional, incredible. I wish I could explain her art. I urge you to find her work online.

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was Handle. I couldn’t think of anything ornate to draw so I just did the front door handle with my keys in it. Black calligraphy ink pen with metallic watercolour paints for the details and view through the front door window. My arm still shakes so as I hold my sketchpad it wobbles…..

Quick watercolour and ink pen sketch of the sunset on my walk today. It took me 3. 5 hours to walk 6.73 miles, but that was including stops and visits to shops. I’m haven’t blogged much today.. Too tired…

Observational drawing of the day, my eye, used a calligraphy pen and felt pens. The patterned thing is my little hand mirror.

Stairs or stairway. This is the top of our stairs with a bookcase full of books and old photo albums. Quick 15 minute sketch for today’s #bandofsketchers prompt. Calligraphy Ink pen and marker pens (some are running out).

When you want to try and draw a detailed tin but it’s a bit too complicated. Why not try a graphite stick and do a rubbing? Then I added shading for the sides and a bit of black ink for the shadows with my calligraphy pen (I do like it).

Another quick sketch. When I’m busy it’s good to just get something down on paper, even if it is only a few lines. This was done with a calligraphy marker pen. I just drew our Sunday paper, although I didn’t get time to read it. So much going on in the world, even without covid19. Planes engines on fire, princesses possibly falsely imprisoned. Politics and uprisings. Tomorrow this will be yesterday’s news….

A doodled mandala and adjustments in photodirector to add lens flare and playing with the drawn lines (gold and silver pens on black cartridge paper).
I wanted to cover the paper in patterns, it started out as a reasonably balanced pattern at the centre, but I soon went off on a tangent!
