The two faces of Eve.

FB_IMG_1577149102993

Face left, face forward. Underneath her name and a long number. Her mug shot. She didn’t understand why. What was happening? She was being blamed for everything.

The snake in the tree had started it. It spoke! Talked about it being the tree of knowledge. Well she had always wanted to learn, to go to school, to get to university. What was wrong with knowledge? But they had said only men can do that. Women aren’t allowed, they might get ideas above their station.

She had tried an apple the snake had offered her. It looked tasty. Not evil? No, more like a braeburn. Having eaten, she told her friend Adam about it. He said if she could taste it then he would too. Later they tried other fruit off other trees. Now she’d been arrested for stealing fruit!

The sins of the world, they called it. All over one measly apple. Would you Adam and Eve it?

Roses and fruit.

I keep finding drawings that I did at sketchfu all those years ago that are popping up on my memories page. I just want to share them because I’m quite proud of them considering it was just a site with basic tools. I’m posting a different set in a minute. I did do drawings of more people but they haven’t emerged from the depths of FB yet.

Time and space

We decided to visit the time and space exhibition at the world museum, Liverpool, while we went to see the exhibition of the terracotta army from China.

Time and space is on the top floor. Along with a planetarium (which we didn’t know you had to book). There were some stunning clocks and watches and scientific instruments. It’s not as interactive as Jodrell Bank, but it feels authentic, like an old fashioned museum, there were spectroscopic instruments from Liverpool University, and part of an old cyclotron. There was also a feed from the international Space Station which was on http://www.nasatv you could even log in to the signal your self.

After watching the new Dr Who series on TV it was good to see the reality.

Fruit

Oh to be a happy pear,

Sitting on an old blue stair.

Or an apple with a smile,

Laughing and joking all the while.

What a jape

To be a grape.

And even when the sun don’t shine,

Have a drink with lots of lime.

Maybe even eat a lemon

And then again a small persimmon.

But never ever be an orange,

Cause there’s no rhyme to go with it!
