Digital art 8 years ago

Another semi abstract digital drawing that popped upon my Facebook memories, long enough ago that I can’t remember the apps I used.

I’ve noticed that if I draw profiles of faces I usually draw them facing left. That might be because my right hand might obscure the drawing of they faced right. I did ask some other artists and concluded the left handed ones draw profiles facing right? But the sample size (3 or 4 people) is far too small to draw an accurate conclusion. I also draw horses heads and other animals facing left. I do wonder why.

Sketchy blonde

When I get bored I doodle.

Usually faces either in profile or three quarter positions. But I’ve noticed they usually face left, and I thinks that because I’m right handed. I also draw cats and horses facing left too.

I think its because I’m right handed. I usually draw the edge of the face first, then the eyes and the mouth, and hair and the ear. If you draw across the page you can see what you have drawn without your hand getting in the way. I spoke to someone who is left handed and she draws faces facing right. I haven’t done any research but it would be interesting to find it hw prevalent this is….?

Knitted

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was knitted. So difficult to draw left handed, but my right hand is still swollen and sore. I tried drawing a knitted pattern. The spiky things at the top are meant to be knitting needles. Not much more I can say except it was hard to draw a continuous line left handed and the writing is with my left hand too.

Mark making

For mindfulness day two. I’ve hurt my right hand so I appreciated doing something left handed. It turned from mark making into a tree. My friend alou has a Facebook page where she encourages art with mindfulness as a meditation.

I started withe the blue swirls, which felt earlike, but when I added the gold colour and the dots it felt like a tree in the wind. The dots and the green leaves add to the feeling of a tree blowing in the wind.
