Barrow and aqueligia

Photo of a barrow and plants

I’ve just been to Growthpoint, it’s a place where you can go if you suffer from anxiety or mental health issues. I was pleased that the bee paintings I did on small circles of wood have all sold. I managed to buy some plants, they are for sale all the time but today was an open day. So I got eight plants for 50 pence each. I’ve got to sort the yard out, I hope to do that this weekend if the weather is OK. Then I can plant the ones I bought. Today is a good day.

Open day went well

Not my studio….

It’s my neighbours across the corridor. I wish I had that view but my studio is window free, which means it’s easier to heat! A few people came in and said how toasty and warm it was. I sold a couple of paintings from there and a few miniatures in the makers market. But most of all I liked asking people if they were artists, or if they enjoyed it. I enthused to parents to get their children involved in art. It was a good day.

Makers market at Spode

Small paintings for sale

Saturday is the open Studios day at Acava Spode Studios in Elanora Street, Stoke. On from 10am to 4pm, studio holders open their studios to the public and also hold a small sale to try and sell some of their work in time for Christmas.

This is a chance to buy hand made arts and crafts at a local venue in Stoke. There are all sorts of work represented.

I will be in my studio to show people work in progress and also have some of my older work on sale.

Might see you there?

I might paint owls!

Tiny owl painting from about 7 years ago

Next weekend I’m busy with an open day at Spode and an exhibition and craft sale at the Whitfield centre with Orme Art Group. I was trying to think of a theme to use for some little paintings I want to do and I’m thinking owls and maybe hedgehogs (which will be curled in autumn leaves). If it happens I’ll post some pictures.

Metal working tools…

And other images from the Forge at Etruria. I was there today and took a few photos in the beautiful mid September sunshine we had today.

When the sun is bright and low it casts deep shadows and picks out intricate details that you might otherwise miss.

The glow from the flames of the Forge added to the atmosphere, you can almost feel the heat coming off those flames.

The Forge is the domain of Sculpted Steel. You can see demonstrations of the blacksmiths work on open days at Etruria Industrial museum.
